| Imran Khan and Avantika Malik have turned to Karan Johar to help them plan their wedding functions. The director was more than happy to help the couple. Initially, the bride-to-be started doing stuff on her own, but as the wedding date (January 10) drew closer, she realised that she was getting too stressed with all the planning and desperately needed help. She just didn't know who to ask. The groom wasn't any help, as he has been busy with his Yash Raj film's shoot. A source reveals, "Avantika was stressing about everything from her wedding trousseau to the menu. While in conversation with his I Hate Luv Storys producer, Imran happened to mention how his sweetheart was panicking and KJo immediately offered to look at the list and help her with suggestions. When he sat with Avantika and saw her plans, he wasn't too happy with some things. So the veteran of all things shaadi, took the reins in his hands and become the unofficial wedding planner for the couple." First on the list was the bridal trousseau. Karan asked Manish Malhotra and Varun Bahl to design the couple's clothes. The source adds, "He was very specific with the detailing. He told Avantika the kind of colours she should wear. He's asked Manish to design a burnt orange lehenga for her. Apart from the clothes, he even chose accessories like the green maang ka tikka." Since Imran was busy in Chandigarh, KJo also constantly reassured him that everything was going smoothly. He had the sketches emailed to him, and discussed the functions with him on the phone. Imran confirms, "Karan has been more than helpful. He has been a mentor and a friend to Avantika. He's helped us immensely and sorted our lives. I didn't have time to plan but he really helped Avantika in all the planning." There will be an elaborate mehendi ceremony held on January 8 at the Malliks' Karjat farm house. However, there won't be any major naach gaana since the guest list is limited. The main wedding event on January 10 will be held at Imran's house and is a simple signing of registers. The food will be ordered from Khyber and will cater to the North West Frontier palate. Karan Johar has also designed a traditional outfit for Imran's maamu Aamir Khan to wear at his nephew's shaadi. The trials happened yesterday and measurements were taken. Trust KJo to take care of all the details, when he takes on any "project". Also, we wonder if Mr Perfectionist had any inputs to give Karan. |
