I don't think he is over - shadowed at least not his acting .. i remember he was as much appreciated in RDB as Aamir n he stood out in 3I n Golmaal .. Infact he was noticed from his first movie itself..but yh the recognition one get from a solo hero movie is different😛 I guess even after tht makers still don't think he can manage a movie entirely on his shoulders coz he dun enjoy a huge fan base i guess🤔 He have been casted now in Ferrari ki Savari by Rajkumar Hirani .. I am guessing its a solo here project ? .. maybe tht can give a proper platform to him if the movie turns out good.
he was also a solo lead in the movie with Tabu and i can't remember the name for it right now... but that movie did not do well either... it was after 3 idiots... he's a good actor, but he's not such a great actor that i can say that he's underhyped or overshadowed...! he does not has the charm or the carisma, which i think is the main reason why he can't ever make it into the biggies... he'd be either stuck in the side roles, or would do the solo low budget movies... he can't yet carry an entire movie on his shoulders...! 
i feel the same way about Tushhar as well... he's really good in certain roles, but even he can't carry a movie... same with arshal warsi... my dad actually liked arshad warsi a lot when he debuted with tere mere sapne... but i don't think that either of them have the ability to carry a movie...
