As the news of hostage of S.M.I.L.E.S came to Gunjan, she returned back that night. Nupur was in her room cradling Khushi in her arms. Gunjan was sitting on her bed.
"Thank God, yahaan kisi ko kuch nahin hua. Main toh khabar sunte hi bhaagi thi wahaan se" Gunjan said
Nupur placed Khushi in her cot and sat beside Gunjan.
"Mujhe bohot darr kag raha hai Gunjan, police abhi bhi bahar hai, aisa kyun hua humaare saath?" Nupur placed her head over Gunjan's shoulders and grasped her hand tightly.
"Nupur ab sab theek hai, police apni formalities poori kar rahi hai..dekh Khushi bhi maze se so rahi hai.. tu kyun tension le rahi hai" Gunjan said consoling Nupur
Nupur was deep in her thoughts and suddenly she proclaimed "Maine aaj Mayank ko dekha"
Gunjan removed her shoulder...
"Kya?? Nupur are you alright...kya keh rahi ho?"
"Gunjan, wo Mayank tha, maine usse apni aankhon se dekha hai"
"Nupur they were terrorists" Gunjan exclaimed and then after a pause "O my god, they were terrorists and Mayank was one of them....aur kya expect kar sakte the uss jaanwar se"
Gunjan hugged Nupur "Don't worry Nupur, he is under arrest now. Mujhe nahin lagta ki wo tumhein contact karne ki koshish karega"
Nupur broke the hug and said "Par usse pata chal gaya ki Khushi humaari....meri beti hai, tabhi toh...."
"Tabhi toh kya ?"
"Tabhi ussne Khushi ko nahin maara aur issi wajah se wo arrest ho gaya"
"Toh tujhe iss baat ki khushi hai ya iss baat ka dukh hai"
Nupur was startled by Gunjan's reply. She had no answer to this...
"Mujhe nahin pata" saying this Nupur stood up and went outside the room.
Next morning....
"Dia...Dia Banerjee. Understood or you want any further explanation" A lady in cotton pleated saree exclaimed removing her goggles. A black gown was hanging on her forearm.
"Ji.....Ji aapko kaun nahin jaanta. Commissioner sir ka phone aa gaya tha mere paas. Main aapko milwaata hoon usse" Inspector said stretching his arm forward in a gesture to let her move.
Inspector was rubbing his forehead with a handkerchief.
"Mujhe bataya tha sir ne ki ek lawyer aayega..par mujhe nahin pata tha ki aap hongi"
"Baatein kum, kaam zyaada. Aap apna kaam keejiye aur mujhe apna karne deejiye"
"Ji...ji haan main abhi usse bulaata hoon"
Inspector went inside Mayank's lockup and pulled him outside holding his handcuffs and made him sit on a wooden chair placed in front of a table and in front of it Dia was sitting going through some files placed on the table.
"Madam ji.... ye he aapka terrorist... bachaao isse hum bhi dekhte hain kaanoon kaise bachaayega isse"
Dia looked up at the inspector and gave him a hard look while wearing her spectacles.
She then turned to Mayank....
"Toh naam kya hai tumhaaraa?" Dia asked
Mayank remained quiet.
"Tumhaara naam kya hai?"
Mayank still remained quiet.
Dia removed her spectacles and crossed her arma and adjusted her position on the chair, resting back she said "Tumhe lag raha hoga main kaun hoon aur yahaan kya kar rahi hoon, toh isska jawaab mere paas hai. Par maine jo sawaal kiya tumse usska jawaab sirf tumhaare paas hai, so tum mere sawaalon ke jawaab do aur main tumhaare sawaalon ke deti hoon, okay?"
Mayank again remained silent and started looking out of the room. He was getting pictures of Nupur and Khushi in front of his eyes. At that moment he just wanted to meet them and no one else.
"Main tumhaari lawyer hoon aur mera naam Dia Banerjee hai. Tumhein meri help karni hogi tabhi main tumhein bacha sakti hoon. Toh shuruaat tumhaare naam se karte hain, theek hai"
Mayank looked at her and without any second thoughts in his mind, he spoke "Main ye sab chodna chahta hoon" and egaerly looked in her eyes.
Dia smiled and replied "Bahut acchi baat hai, agar tum ye sab chodna chahte ho toh isse acchi baat kya ho sakti hai. Toh..." after a pause "jo bhi tumhaara naam hai hum..."
Mayank looked at her and said "Mayank.."
Dia smiled and after a pause ahe said "Ok Mayank, kal se case par kaam karenge, meeting hours khatam hone jaa rahe hain toh mujhe jaana hoga, theek hai"
Mayank gave no response to her while she collected all her belongings and went out from there.
"Driver, haan yahin roko" Dia said and after the driver stopped the car, she stepped out of the car.
Some police constables stopped her outside S.M.I.L.E.S.
"Naam?" One of the constable asked as he was maintaining a record of people who visited S.M.I.L.E.S.
"Dia Banerjee, Public Lawyer"
"Ok ma'am ab aap jaa sakti hain"
Dia entered inside and quietly sneaked into Gunjan's cabin "Hi"
Gunjan looked up and smiled "Hi... Dia...itne dinon baad"
"Itna sab kuch ho gaya aur mujhe ye khabar aapke bajaaye officially milti hai."
"Ab sab kuch.....aise achaanak hua...khair chodo aur tum bataao kaam kaisa chal raha hai? Aajkal toh madam saare kaise jeet rahi ho, haan. Ab har kisi se kaha karo (imitating her voice and attitude) Dia...Dia banerjee..naam toh suna hi hoga"
And they both bursted out into laughter.
"Gunjan, thoda tough toh hona hi padta hai warna tu toh jaanti hai kaise kaise log, criminals kin sab se roz paala padta hai"
"Accha aur bata ab kaun se naye case par kaam kar rahi hai?"
Dia took a pause and thought its better to remain silent that I am fighting in favour of the terrorist who attacked them.
She said "Ye sab chod aur ye bata Nupur kahaan hai?"
"Aati hi hogi, kal ke baad toh uski duniya Khushi se shuri hoti hai aur wahin khatam ho jaati hai"
"Khushi ??" Dia enquired
"Usski beti"
"Aur usska husband?"
"Wo bohot lambi kahaani hai, kabhi baad mein bataaungi"
There was a knock on the door.
"Lo aa gayi Nupur"
"Hi, Dia itne dinon baad" Nupur greeted her
"Tera exam kaisa gaya? Result kab aa raha hai?" Dia enquired
"Do char din mein aane waala hai" Nupur smiled
"Hey bhagwaan, phir do do wakeelon se main kaise bachungi" Gunjan said
"Madam, do do wakeel desh ki seva karenge aur kya?" Both Nupur and Dia smiled looking at each other.
"Ok ab main chalti hoon, case par kaam bhi karna hai" Dia said "Arre, jis kaam ke liye aayi thi wo toh bhool hi gayi. Nupur apni application de de, kal office mein submit kar doongi"
"Haan abhi laati hoon" Nupur said
After few minutes Nupur returned back
"Ye rahi"
"Ok chalo bye" Dia said
"Bye" Nupur and Gunjan greeted them as well
