Indian film star Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee dazzle the audience with their performance at the Army Stadium in Dhaka last night.
Politicians, civil society members and celebrities joined the beeline of fans to see and hear Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who performed for the first time in Dhaka in a live concert yesterday. Diehard fans packed the Army Stadium, the venue of the much-hyped concert, titled 'Shah Rukh Khan Night,' hours before the King Khan showed up along with Bollywood queen Rani Mukherji. His dancing troupe also consisted of Isha Koppikar, Arjun Rampal, Shefaly Jariwala, Ganesh Hedge and Niraj Sridhar.
The stadium was full by 5:30 pm and many people had to go back failing to manage a ticket, which was expensive, yet not available. Rush of vehicles towards the stadium clogged the Airport Road.
The programme started with the performance of local stars. Rani Mukharjee appeared the stage just before Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan. Her fans missed a beat as she danced with her trademark, impeccable rhythms. Shah Rukh and Rani along with their co-artists received a rousing welcome as soon as they walked to the rostrum and quenched the fans with their enthralling stage show.
The frenzied fans danced and sang with every beat of Shah Rukh's dances and songs.
King Khan arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30pm with his wife Gouri Khan and two sons by a special flight.
They were taken to the VIP lounge of the airport and then to the Radisson Water Garden Hotel.
A 12-member security team also arrived to ensure full-proof security for Shah Rukh and his family.
The 6-hour extravaganza enthralled the enthusiastic visitors as well as the viewers of Boishakhi tv which telecast the programme live from the venue. Wearing a blue T-shirt and sunglass, Khan appeared on stage at 3:30pm amid thunderous applause from the audiences. He did his warm up with his dancing troupe for an hour. The superstar performed with few of his hit numbers which includes Deewangi, Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jana Sanam. The whole stadium seemed dancing with the tune when Arjun Rampal performed 'Rock On', one of his hit numbers. Singer Neeraj Sridhar rendered a few of his popular numbers. The show was hosted by Debasish Bishwas and Prantar Chowdhury. The programme was arranged by Antar Showbiz.
