Why do you think your topic went off beat? I believe I gave a perfectly reasonable response to contemporary attitude.
a)why should I do it?
b)why I alone should do it?
c)what difference does it make if I alone do it?
d)what difference does it make if I don't do it?
e)why should i be bothered at all?
Each of these five attitudes can be summarized in one monosyllabic utterance "eh". Case in point
Can you please do 'x'?
Eh
Would you like to do "x"?
Eh
To use proper dictionary terms if that is what you are looking for then the prevailing attitude is "ignorance and apathy" aka "I don't know and I don't care". But these people would not be bothered to speak beyond eh or so I think.
Eh can be replaced with Bleh, Brah, Huh, uh, uh-huh, duh, uh-duh, *sigh*, grr, uff etc.
Btw, I am curious what is "It"? Is it good or bad, easy or difficult, common or unusual? And why are people so reluctant to do it?
