The City:
At the heart of it all is Mumbai. A city of ordinary people and their ordinary lives, but beware, this is also a city of extraordinary tales. One in which many worlds co-exist, and each world with its own share of deceit, lies and angst.
The Crimes:
A retired man defrauded of his life's savings by a man he's been drinking chai with everyday for the last 5 years...
An old woman at the Nepean Sea road dies in her sleep, leaving all her worldly possessions to a volunteer who'd visit her everyday for one hour...
A kid kidnapped by his own parents to further their ambitions by manipulating the grandfather who dots on his grandson...
An actress is killed and the one man who had the motive also has the perfect alibi.
A millionaire dies, the wife is imprisoned, but he never really died...
They are all simple and therefore, the toughest to crack! The crimes in this world are all about human greed and deceit and at stake, is always an innocent life. They all have a story and in every story is a crime, a criminal and a victim. Into these worlds and their lives comes our D.O.N and in solving their crimes just sees their worlds a little differently and a little more clearly with his particular brand of insight and intelligence and goes away leaving his mark on these worlds for the time to come.
The Man:
When you see him, he looks good, well educated, fashionable, well to do and obviously successful. You would never guess that he has dawned from roles quite weird, ones that have donned him as any commoner, you would meet - an auto-rickshaw driver, a plumber, a bus conductor, an usher, a waiter, a peon... But why?
Infact, he is someone who came to Mumbai to make a life for himself and went through such a grind before finding his true calling. When you see him, you would never guess that he is a Private Detective... That he is Detective Omkar Nath, also called the D.O.N.
His mission is to solve crimes - Crimes that are not of nation-threatening proportions, but crimes that would otherwise remain unsolved inside closed files. He has no special affinity for the downtrodden and he is no messiah looking to help society at large. A crime is a crime and because it is a crime, it needs to be solved. No matter who the victim is - rich, poor, fair, dark, young, old. And till the crime is solved, it is an obsession.
