Yo what's up everyone?!

I took a little break from studies to post up this bit. Sorry for those of you waiting on AWMARW...haven't had a chance to write on that. The plot line is still more complex than this one...I can usually whip out a chapter for this one a lot fast 😛

Big Thank You for all those took the time to Comment and/or Hit the Like Button! 😃

This one is another long update...you've been warned.
Please forgive me for any spelling and grammatical errors 😊

Part 21: Parenthood

Prem sat on the couch deeply engrossed in the college football game being shown on ESPN. He opened a can of grape soda and took a few sips before placing it back on the coffee table. His children were sitting on the carpet busily playing with the gifts they had received from him the night before. Ishaan was making car noises as he rolled the miniature traditional red double decker bus and black London taxi cab around on the floor. His Royal Palace Guard teddy bear was a few feet away sitting next to his sister's Beefeater teddy bear. Leher was busy coloring in her coloring book that had all the scenic monuments of London. Both the children had on a white t-shirt that had a colorful depiction of the London skyline.

The relaxing atmosphere was soon interrupted when the home telephone rang. Prem picked up the cordless phone and answered. "Prem, can you come out and help me? I stopped by the store and picked up a few things after my workout at the gym," Heer asked on the other end.

"Sure thing Sweetheart, be right out," Prem replied and walked out the front door.

Leher paused to take a look at her picture wondering which color she should use next for some of the people in the picture. She glanced up from her 64 pack Crayola crayon box and spied her brother eyeing the can of grape soda their father had left on the coffee table. "What are you doing Ishaan?"

"Taking a drink," he replied.

"We're not allowed to have Coke without Mommy or Daddy's permission," Leher said.

"This is grape soda not Coke," Ishaan reasoned. "Daddy won't mind if I drink a little."

Leher sighed shaking her head, "But Mommy will. I don't want to get punished because of you." She grabbed her coloring book and crayons and began moving towards kitchen. "I don't know anything."

Ishaan smirked, "That's fine...you don't know anything." He was secretly pleased that his sister had opted to be good and went away leaving him alone with the can of grape soda. He could now drink as much as he wanted without having to share anything with her. Ishaan carefully held the can with his two hands and titled it back to take a sip. He licked his lips feeling the refreshing carbonated drink lingering on his taste buds. He wanted more so he took another gulp. The sugary substance was intoxicating to him as he became greedy wanting to drink more before it turned warm. There was something about drinking a cold can of grape soda or any type of soda for that matter that was extremely satisfying. Ishaan felt his stomach gurgle but ignored the warning his body was telling him as he drank some more. The can was near empty. He placed it back on the coffee table and cupped his mouth feeling extremely nauseous. The next thing he knew pale purple liquid began to flow freely out of his mouth and nostrils.

Leher ran into the living room the minute she heard sounds of coughing. She looked in disgust at her little brother holding onto the coffee table steadying himself as he vomited. "You're in big trouble now," Leher whispered and then ran out the front door to report to her parents. She found her mother standing beside the trunk of her car talking on the cordless house phone. "Mommy!" Leher shouted.

"Leher, how many times have I told you not to yell and interrupt me when I'm talking on the phone?" Heer reprimanded cutting off her daughter before she had a chance to explain what was going on inside the house.

"But Mommy..." Leher pleaded. Heer gave her daughter a warning look causing to stop talking. Leher stood muted not knowing what to do and wondered where her father was. He suddenly appeared behind her and explained, "It's not good manners to interrupt people when they are talking on the phone." He then went to grab another bag of charcoal to put in the garage when Heer handed him the cordless phone. "Ma, wants to talk about our Thanksgiving plans."

"Mommy...Daddy..." Leher meekly said.

"What is there to talk about? We're going to her house like always," Prem said.

Heer shrugged her shoulders, "She wants to talk to you."

Prem narrowed his eyes, "You two are up to something aren't you? Going to gang up on me...let's see what is it...a trip to somewhere? I'm not going to let the kids miss any school for such a short holiday...they have Christmas break coming up we can take them then."

"I didn't say anything about a trip," Heer defended.

"Mommy...Daddy..." Leher whined a few octaves louder.

"Leher, not now Mommy and Daddy are talking," Prem answered.

"Just talk to your mother," Heer said.

"But...Ishaan..." Leher continued.

"Leher, what did Daddy tell you? It's not polite to interrupt when adults are talking," Heer chided. "Don't do it again or else..."

Leher sighed fed up at being ignored and decided to take the chance of getting punished and started yelling at the top of her lungs, "ISHAAN DRANK DADDY'S GRAPE SODA AND NOW HE'S THROWING UP!" Both parents turned at her wide eyed at her sudden explosive announcement.

"Ma, we'll call you later," Prem said and quickly ended the phone call as he ran back into the house.

Heer was already there inspecting Ishaan and the mess he had made. The front of his white t-shirt was stained with streaks of violet and his face looked pale. The coffee table had a brownish watery mass laying on top; that was most likely Ishaan's morning breakfast. A puddle of purple liquid had flowed from the sides and collected underneath the table making a large stain on the rug. Heer was concern but also upset that her son had done something he knew he wasn't supposed to be doing.

"Mommy, I don't feel good," Ishaan weakly mumbled and started to cough.

Heer quickly grabbed a box of tissues to wipe Ishaan's mouth as watery liquid spilled out. After he had settled down she picked him up. Ishaan collapsed into his mother's embraced and rested his head on her shoulder. "Let's go and get you changed and cleaned up," Heer sighed as she walked up the stairs.

Prem immediately went to the laundry room to get the cleaning supplies. His daughter followed him around for a few minutes and then asked, "Am I going to get punished?" Prem arched his eyebrow at his daughter's question. "I interrupted."

He tried not to grin at her and replied, "No. You were trying to tell us something important about your brother."

"I didn't drink any grape soda...I know we have to ask...Ishaan did it without asking," Leher explained. She wanted to make sure her father knew she had no part in the grape soda fiasco.

Prem couldn't help but chuckle softly at his daughter's remark. "You were a very good girl. Now, can you help Daddy out a little? Please take the teddy bears and place them over on that arm chair.

"Okay Daddy," Leher happily replied and did as requested.

Prem picked up the can of grape soda and shook his head in amazement that it was almost empty. He couldn't believe his son had literally stuff his tiny stomach full of grape soda. He took the can and placed it in one of the shallow buckets he was carrying. The weathered magazines on the table were next to go inside the bucket. He then went back into the kitchen to clean them up before placing them into the recycling bin.

Fifteen minutes later Heer came back down with Ishaan who was looking clean and more refreshed. Prem was glad to see some color restored back into his son's cheeks. Ishaan gently sniffled and walked towards the coffee table. "Help your Daddy clean up the mess you made," Heer ordered. Ishaan obediently nodded and looked at his father waiting for instructions. Prem remembered the first time Heer had punished their children in this fashion. Leher and Ishaan had decided one day to draw with their crayons on the wall behind the small table in the kitchen. Heer had caught them red handed and was extremely angry. She gave them a good spanking and then ordered them to clean the drawings off the wall. He could still vividly see his children softly sniffling back their tears as they wiped the wall with a damp cloth. Heer was ignoring them busily making dinner for that night. The only time she said anything to the children was when either one of them stopped wiping or started crying hoping they could guilt Prem into easing their punishment from their mother. Later that night he had a long talk with Heer about how they should punish their children. At first he was against her treatment, but after she explained how her mother use to do that with her and Milind and how it really engrained the lesson of what they did wrong he consented.

Prem handed a damp washcloth to his son and instructed him to wipe down the left side of the leather couch. He then went back to work on cleaning the beige rug. He had placed a large towel over the spot where most of the purple liquid had collected and then gently rolled the towel upward applying pressure as he went along so it could soak up the watery substance.

Heer was in the kitchen filling a small cup of orange flavored Gatorade for Ishaan. After throwing up his breakfast she knew she had to get some electrolytes and vitamins back into his system. She didn't like being the "bad guy" and took no pleasure in punishing her children but it seemed she was always in the position of laying down the law with them while Prem quietly sat in the back being the "good guy" wiping their tears away and providing them with comforting hugs. Of course Prem had his moments too when he would punish the children and Heer would sit back allowing him to do as he saw fit. That was the balance they had in their parental relationship. They promised each other even if they disagreed at the time the punishment was being ordered they would never openly object in front of their children. They would talk about it privately between themselves if something needed to be changed.

"Drink this," Heer said as she handed her son the cup of Gatorade. Ishaan took it and drank the orange flavored liquid slowly. He handed it back to his mother who then said in a rather firm voice, "I'm going to go take a shower. When I come back I want to see the living room cleaned." Ishaan nodded his head and went back to work.

*******************************************************

Heer came back down the stairs wearing jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt. She saw the coffee table placed to the side and a large pale purplish stain on the living room rug. Luckily their beige leather couch was unaffected by the spill. They always made sure to properly treat it so it would repeal any liquids that spilled onto it. Heer sighed and went into the kitchen to see Prem busily taking things out of the refrigerator to make lunch. Her children were quietly sitting at the small kitchen table. Leher was drawing in her sketch pad while Ishaan was coloring in his coloring book.

"We're going to have to get the rug professionally cleaned," Prem said. "I don't know if the purple stain is going to come out."

"How much is that going to cost?" Heer asked.

"I don't know," Prem replied.

"If it's going to be expensive then we might as well get a new rug," Heer said.

"Let me call around first and see what the going rate is...and if they will be able to even clean it," Prem suggested. "I did my best with the OxiClean...it didn't remove all of it but it did lessen the color...at least it isn't bright purple."

"How do you feel about grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup?" Heer asked. Prem smiled realizing what she was doing and slipped his arm around her waist into a sideways hug. He kissed her forehead tenderly. "He's already apologized to me. He feels really bad about what he did."

"I wasn't yelling at him but he kept crying in the bathtub. I just told him I was really disappointed because he knew the rules. I told him he's not allowed to have any sodas for a month. I can't believe he tried drinking a whole can of grape soda," Heer whispered.

"I know...I didn't think he would even try when I left it on the coffee table to go and help you with the groceries," Prem said.

"Oh, did you bring them in?" Heer asked.

"Yup, took care of them," Prem replied. He then nudged her when he saw his son approach them. "I think your son has something to say."

Heer turned around to see Ishaan looking apprehensively at her. "Yes, Ishaan?" she asked.

"I'm really sorry Mommy. I won't do it again," he said and then hugged her legs. "Do you still hate me?"

Heer's eyes watered at his last comment and she quickly picked her son up, "No, I could never hate you. How could you think that?"

"You said you were dis-point-ed," Ishaan replied. "Doesn't that mean you don't like me?"

Heer shook her head fiercely, "Oh Honey, that's not what it means. When you know right from wrong and you choose to do wrong that is when Mommy or Daddy will feel disappointed because we taught you right and you chose to do something wrong. We are just not very happy with you but we could never hate you. I love you so so much."

Ishaan's eyes lit up and he smiled, "I love you too Mommy," and hugged her tightly.

"So what do you think about having grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup?" Heer asked wiping away the tiny tears that had escaped from her son's eyes.

"I love grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup!" Ishaan replied with glee and gave his mom a big kiss on the cheek. Heer kissed him back and gently tickled him causing him to giggle.

"Mommy, can we go to the park today?" Leher asked as she put her crayons down and closed her sketch pad.

Heer turned to her husband, "Ask Daddy."

"Sure, after lunch well go to the park," Prem answered. Leher and Ishaan squealed with delight at their father's agreement.

Heer put Ishaan down and said, "Okay you two can watch TV until lunch is finished."

"Yaaay!" they both shouted and ran into the living room.

Prem pulled Heer back before she left the kitchen. "Hmmm?" she replied turning to look at him. He gave her a tender kiss causing a grin to form on her face, "What was that for?"

"Do I need a reason to kiss you now?" Prem replied.

"No, I guess not," Heer answered with a light giggle.

"But if you really want reasons...I love you...you're my wife...the mother of my children...I love you...you're the most gorgeous girl on this planet...and did I mention I'm absolutely madly in love with you?" Prem said.

"I think you've said that already," Heer grinned.

"Said what?" Prem asked.

"That you love me," Heer replied.

"Just needed to make sure you heard that," Prem said with a gentle smirk.

"Prem, let me go the kids are waiting," Heer pleaded.

"Learning to be patience is a good thing," Prem replied. "I thought you'd like to have our kids learn that quality." He inched his face closer to hers and softly said, "Can my wife pencil me into her schedule book for some quality time tonight? I think we should get started on our special project."

Heer gave a knowing smile but cupped Prem's mouth with the palm of her hand preventing him from giving her another kiss, "That special project may have to wait if you are serious about buying a new house. I don't want to worry about where we will be living...find a house first and then we can work on the other thing."

"I told you I'm building us a house," Prem explained. "And besides it's going to take us awhile to get pregnant...it's not going to happen overnight. You're still on birth control...even if you stopped using it today it would take awhile for it to clear your system."

"Heh, you have got to be kidding me...we were using both protection and we still managed to get pregnant with the twins. I'm not taking any chances. We still have to see how long it is going to take to remodel the house and how long we may have to be living somewhere else. Give me a time table and then I'll think about it. And since when did you become the medical expert? It's going to take awhile to clear my system?"

"I was talking to my friend Dr. Vishal Gupta...I think you know him...and he told me," Prem smartly replied. "And our twins came because we didn't have all the interruptions like we do now and it wasn't like we were being super careful about it...as I recalled you've forgotten to take your pills more than a few times and we've had our share of accidents." Heer furrowed her eyebrows at him. "Okay, I'll seriously look into the remodeling and see how long it may take. I'll schedule an appointment within the next two weeks to have someone come by and take a look at the house and the blueprints."

Heer smiled, "Thank you." She then playfully kissed his nose. "I'll think about the quality time tonight." Prem grinned and released his hands from around her waist. Heer walked into the living room and turn the television on for the kids.

********************************************************

The Junejas strolled into the wide open grass field of the public park enjoying the pleasant weather that Mother Nature had bestowed upon them. Ishaan held a soft red Nerf football in his hands while his sister held a pink Frisbee. They both suddenly ran at full speed when they spotted a medium sized fox-red shaded Labrador Retriever running towards their direction. The dog happily greeted them allowing them to run their hands across his fur. His tail wagged frantically in appreciation at their affection. "Maximus!" a voice yelled from a distance. Leher turned towards the direction of the voice and waved her hand, "Hi Preet Uncle!"

Preet grinned at seeing her and Ishaan playing with his dog. "Well, no wonder he ran off like that."

"Fancy seeing you here Mr. Singh," Prem light-heartedly greeted.

"Yeah, Meher wanted to go for a stroll in the park. Maximus here just sped off out of the blue...guess he must have seen you guys," Preet replied.

"Heer!" Meher smiled with delight and began waving her hand as she got closer to group. The two women began chatting animatedly with one other ignoring their husbands.

"They look like they haven't seen each other in ages when your wife stopped by our house this morning before going to the gym," Preet chuckled.

"They're always talking on the phone too. I had to pry her away from the phone last night. I just came home and she was spending more time talking to her friend than me, her husband," Prem complained. Their wives suddenly turned towards their direction and gave them a hard stare as if they knew they were talking about them. "Oh, looks like we got caught," Prem mumbled.

"I don't want to be in the dog house. Maximus complains I take up too much room," Preet joked. He and Prem walked over to their wives and smiled at them. "Yes, dear?" Preet asked looking at his wife.

"So, you think we should tell them?" Meher inquired.

"It's your news to tell," Preet simply replied.

Prem and Heer stared at their friends wondering what they were talking about. Then Heer smiled as she glanced over to Meher who suddenly blushed. "Really?" Meher nodded her head happily. "That's wonderful news! Congratulations!" Heer squealed and hugged her friend tightly.

"You're going to love it man...the food cravings...the sleepless nights...the crying...the laughing...the outbursts..." Prem said addressing Preet.

"Excuse me are you making fun of me?" Heer asked.

"No. What making fun...I was talking about myself," Prem sarcastically replied. "We men, go through some things too when you women are pregnant." Meher laughed while Heer gave a growling stare at her husband.

"This coming from a man who wants another one?" Heer retorted.

"Oh, you guys are thinking about having another one?" Meher asked with joyful anticipation.

"He wants another one but I don't know if I'll grant him permission," Heer replied giving him a teasing look. "Anyways, we can't add any more until we find a new place."

"You guys are moving?" Preet asked. "You know I saw some houses for sale near our side of the neighborhood."

"Yes, that's right," Meher said. "You should look into them."

"He wants to build us a house," Heer informed.

"Seriously? Where?" Preet inquired.

"I was just thinking about remodeling our current house," Prem replied. "I will have to see how much it is going to cost us and how they will be able to do it."

"Well, you've got the money to tear it down if need be," Preet said. "Actually it would probably cost you a lot less if you tore it down yourself. You could ask Ronny to help you out."

"I didn't even think of that. Thanks," Prem said.

"If you need a place to crash you are more than welcomed," Meher offered.

"Oh, no, we can't impose like that," Heer replied.

"The kids have to go to school right? You can't possibly stay at your mother-in-laws house'it's so far away," Meher reasoned.

"You're not imposing...you're particularly family...if I don't see you all the time I hear you all the time...on the phone that is," Preet dryly remarked causing Prem to chuckle. Meher shot her husband a dirty look while Heer looked slightly embarrassed. "But seriously...if you guys need a place to stay our house is free. After all you guys did for us when we were in between living spaces waiting for our loan to go through. We got plenty of space too...we got four bedrooms for a reason."

Heer glanced over at Prem who simply stated, "Let's see how things go with the contractor and we'll go from there. Thanks."

"Anytime," Preet smiled.

********************************************************

The adults were enjoying a nice leisure game of catch with the kids. Maximus was busily running to and fro chasing the football waiting for it to fall to the ground so he could pick it up. Leher jumped trying to catch the swirling blue mass that unfortunately went way above her head and sped pass her down the hill. She quickly turned around and raced with Maximus who was far faster than her looking for the football. Leher stopped abruptly when she saw a man pick up her brother's blue football. Maximus barked but stood obediently waiting for the man to either through the ball or give it back to Leher. "This belongs to you?" the man asked.

"Yyyes," Leher hesitantly replied.

The man gently smiled at her. He didn't know why but there was something gravitating about the little girl. Her eyes reminded him of someone he knew. Leher stared up at the man and uncomfortably swallowed. She was willing to forsake her brother's football for her own safety and began to turn back. "Wait, your football," the man said.

"My Mommy told me not to talk to strangers," Leher answered. "You're a stranger."

The man chuckled and nodded his head, "Yes, well then your Mommy is very smart."

"Bye" Leher said. "Come on Maximus."

"But you have a dog," the man quickly replied. "I'm sure he won't let anything happen to you. Don't you want your football back?"

"It's my brother's. It's okay," Leher replied causing the man to laugh.

"I don't think your brother is going to be too happy about that," the man said.

"It's okay Daddy will buy him a new one," Leher said. Their conversation was interrupted when Meher came panting down the hill calling her name. "Leher! Oh, there you are...you scared us half to death," she said.

"Leher!" Prem shouted as he came running down the hill.

"Daddy!" his daughter responded.

The man pushed his square rimmed glasses up on the bridge of his nose and furrowed his eyebrows looking from the little girl to the woman and then from the woman to Prem. Something inside him suddenly snapped as he connected the dots. "Prem Juneja you weasel. I left Heer because I thought you were going to take care of her...but instead you dumped her?" the man shouted.

Prem stared at the man with the glasses dumbstruck at his violent outburst. "Raj?" he murmured as he realized who he was.

"Yes, it is me Raj Malhotra. How could you do that to her? You're nothing but a lying, stinking, and ungrateful weasel! She trusted you and you broke her heart again?" Leher didn't understand what was going on but she didn't like the tone the man with the square rimmed glasses was using with her father. She walked over and raised her little leg back and gave the man a hard kick to his shin. Raj immediately bent down in agony.

"Don't say mean things about my Daddy!" Leher shouted.

"I think there has been a big misunderstanding here," Meher replied.

"Leher Juneja!" Heer shouted from the top of the hill. "Did you just kick that man?" She came running down and started to profusely apology. "I'm so sorry sir." She then looked at her daughter, "We do not go around kicking people. Apology to the man right now."

"But Mommy he was saying mean things about Daddy," Leher defended.

Raj looked up quickly when he recognized the voice that belonged to Leher's mother. "Heer?" he babbled.

"This so called weasel married her," Prem informed.

"Raj? What are you doing here?" Heer asked in surprise.

Raj flushed red embarrassed that he had jumped to conclusions. He hesitantly shifted his eyes towards the woman he thought was with Prem. "I'm Meher, their friend," she simply replied. Raj than looked at Leher and then at Heer and understood why he had recognized those eyes. His attention was distracted again when he saw two other people join their group; a fair skinned man and a little boy. The fair skinned man walked over to Meher and stood extremely close to her. The little boy ran over to Prem and asked, "Daddy why does that man have my football?"

"He found it for your sister," Prem explained.

"I'm really sorry," Raj said looking at Prem.

"You were mean to my Daddy," Leher yelled. "You said a lot of mean things."

"Leher," Heer reprimanded surprised at her outburst.

Raj looked at Leher and bowed his head, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said those things." He looked at Heer and explained, "She's right. I jumped to conclusions. It's my fault. I deserved the kick to the shin."

Heer stared at him not knowing really what to say. The sudden shock at seeing him again had worn off but now she felt awkward. They had a clean break up but it was still strange to see someone you use to date standing there in front of you. She wondered if Raj had moved on and found himself a nice girl to settle down with. She hoped he wasn't still single. Not that she wanted to give herself that much credit for being "the one" that he still pined for. A part of her was afraid that he hadn't been able to move on when she had. "How have you been?" she asked.

"Um, good," Raj replied. "Your kids...they're really cute..." He was at a loss for words at meeting Heer again like this after so long. He assumed that she would be in a loving relationship with Prem but the idea of marriage and children never really crept into his head. It wasn't like he didn't think it wouldn't happen; in fact he would think Prem to be stupid not to marry her but it was just something he never really put too much thought into. Now seeing the reality in the flesh, Heer married with two children, gave him a weird feeling inside. He wasn't quite sure if he was sad or happy.

"Oh, yes...Leher and Ishaan..." Heer said.

"Daddy who is he?" Ishaan asked.

"He's a friend," Prem answered.

"If he's a friend why did he say mean things to you, Daddy?" Leher asked.

Prem took a deep breath and wanted to say it was complicated but knew that wasn't going to help the situation. "Hey, how about some ice cream?" Preet suggested saving his friend from having to answer his daughter's tough question.

The kids shouted with glee, "Yaaay!" and then began pestering their parents to see if they were allowed to go.

"Ice cream in this weather?" Meher whispered.

"They've got jackets on and there is a store across the street where it is warm," Preet replied. "It's a little awkward here don't you think? You know with the ex?" Meher's eyes lit in understanding and nodded at her husband's suggestion.

"I think that's a good idea," Prem said.

"Uncle, can I have my football back?" Ishaan asked.

"Oh, sorry...here you go," Raj replied and handed it back to him with a gentle smile.

Leher looked rather dejectedly and said, "I'm really sorry I kicked you Raj Uncle."

He grinned, "It's okay."

"I'm only saying sorry cause Daddy told me to," Leher mumbled under her breath.

"Leher," Prem sternly warned.

"Sorrieee," Leher repeated.

"Why don't we go get some ice cream?" Meher suggested and took her hand leading her off with Preet and her brother.

Prem rubbed the back of his head not really sure what he should be doing. It wasn't like he was old friends with Raj. The last time they had met he had punched him and busted his lip. The atmosphere was getting rather awkward and he really wanted to escape. "So, um..." Prem fumbled.

"I'm really sorry about earlier. I just assumed...and it was wrong of me to do that without getting the facts straight," Raj apologized again.

"It's okay...at least this time I didn't get a right hook," Prem replied. The two men awkwardly chuckled at the joke.

"Well, I guess we are even now...you're daughter's got a strong kick there," Raj said.

Heer glanced between the two men listening to their conversation piecing together what had probably happened. "So are you still working at the bank?" she asked just to start some idle chit-chat.

"Actually no, I'm working at a consulting firm now," Raj answered. "I moved into a neighborhood not far from here."

"That's nice," Heer smiled.

Their conversation was interrupted when a slender fair skinned female came walking towards them. She had silky shoulder length hair and was wearing a pink kurti top and blue jean leggings. She was carrying two jackets in her hands. "Raj, your jacket," she said. "Oh, um, Hi I'm Varsha."

Heer and Prem both smiled and greeted her. "Friends of mine," Raj briefly explained after introductions were done.

"So you guys live around here?" Varsha asked.

"We live in Lakeshore which is a few blocks from here," Prem answered. "It's nice being close to the park. The kids love it."

"You have kids?" Varsha inquired.

"They went to get some ice cream with their aunt and uncle," Heer explained.

"How old are they?" Varsha asked.

"The twins are four," Heer said.

"Twins? Wow..." Raj said. "Must have been really interesting when they were two."

"The twins are identically or fraternal?" Varsha asked.

"Fraternal...boy and a girl," Prem answered.

"Yes, they were a handful when they were two," Heer said. "It's definitely been an adventure so far never know what's going to happen next." Prem chuckled in agreement at her comment.

Varsha glanced at Raj who gave a small smile, "Um, we have to get going and help set up...Varsha's sister is having cancer lighting ceremony tonight for a friend here at the other side of the park."

"You guys are more than welcomed to join us. We're taking donations for the American Cancer Society," Varsha invited. "The lighting beings at 7:00. There will also be some small bake sell items available."

Prem glanced over at Heer who replied, "Thanks for inviting us. We'll see...with the kids and all."

"Totally understand. We'll be by the big oak tree at the other end of the park. See you guys later. If not it was really nice meeting you two," Varsha said.

"See you around I guess," Raj smiled and turned around with Varsha to go to the other side of the park.

Heer watched as the two walked away. A gently grin formed along her mouth as she saw Varsha take Raj's hand into hers and swing their arms lightly as they continued towards their destination. "They look nice together," Heer stated.

"Happy?" Prem asked.

His wife glanced at him with a satisfied smile. "I'm glad he's found someone. He deserves someone who will be good to him. He was a really nice guy and I feel bad about what happened."

"Oh?" Prem replied arching his eyebrow.

Heer shook her head, "Not like that. I'm extremely happy with my decision."

Prem smiled and reached out his hand for her to hold. "Let's go get some ice cream." Heer beamed a huge grin and leaned into him placing her arm around his waist. This gesture was much better than holding hands Prem thought to himself and placed his arm around her shoulder. Heer kissed his cheek affectionately and they slowly began to stroll their way through the park to the ice cream store.

So I hope you all enjoyed the kids crazy antics. Just to let you know the grape soda story is a true one 😆 One of my friends told me that when she was little she was at this party and they were each given a can of grape soda. She didn't want her soda to get warm so she tried drinking the entire can...needless to say she threw up. Luckily she was outside at that time. Her mother gave her a pretty good spanking afterwards when they got home. She was a pretty naughty kid growing up...she has tons of funny stories.

Only one more chapter to go for Pee Loon.
