RV and Avdesh continue with their war of words...Arpita stands on the terrace, apart and yet part of the group below, her face pale and anxious as she listened to the police threatening her husband. Her fears were coming alive, a waking nightmare for her.
RV puts on his sunshades and prepared to leave when suddenly he notices the silent figure on the terrace...his eyes lingers for a while on the girl, a married one, looking worried and apprehensive...Arpita too looks back, her face a mirror for her internal turmoil...at last RV gets in the car, a knowing look on his face.
Avdesh turns to go inside and his eyes fall on his wife...a flash of discomfort passes over his face, realising she had been listening to the police threats against.....Once inside he is grim in the knowledge that it is time prepare....even bhauji warns him to be cautious, RV is a honest cop with a record of successful encounters but Avdesh is not worried. Arpita rushing downstairs, however, is worried sick and that made her hasty. She pleaded with her husband to let it by and he turned on her like a pouncing cat...eyes brimming with fury and anger, he warned her not to be his weakness for he won't recognise her if she cannot stand by him....

Arpita is busy cleaning her room, her eyes fall on her wedding picture and she slowly picks it up...eyes sad and wise, she touches the smiling face of the bride and groom...it seemed like a lifetime ago since she and avdesh were married but it has only been few days. Behind her, Avdesh comes and pauses, watching Arpita lovingly touch the frame, slight yearning and sadness emanating from her....The same sadness descends on his face, he then knocks on the door to give her time to compose herself....
Avdesh tells her that her brother's marriage has been arranged and for her to go to her mother's....Arpita, however, refuses. Her words were clear and leave no room for doubts. She won't leave him alone in this difficult time. Avdesh is clearly touched and he struggles with his conscience...eventually he admits that destiny plays a part and what is to happen cannot be stopped - an oblique reference to Rv and his threats....he then straightens the wedding picture so that once more it is facing the room.....
My thoughts:
There was a lot happening last night, setting the story track to come yet...but I wanted to concentrate on this these two for their story is about to get intense and send them - and us- through the proverbial emotional wringer....
Avdesh understands his wife's concern but cannot deviate from the path he is on. His words to Arpita, sad and soft were his own apology and explanation. Arpita for her part remained steadfast in her devotion and love. I applaud her for this, Avdesh's days will be dark and nightmarish from now on and he needs to hold hope and love in his heart to see his way through....Arpita for her part, is worried sick...she is the only one seeing clearly and she will fight and keep her husband safe, often that makes her hasty but still steadfast....she will be Avdesh's saviour, there is no doubt. I knew that from the moment I saw her face when she looked at RV....
However, RV has noted his weakness...Avi did not see that because of the sunshades RV was wearing but he did see Arpita when turning to inside the haveli...so his words to her about not becoming his weakness because he won't recognise her will come into play....this cop is zealous, I hope in a nice way, and is going after the gang one by one in his bid to get Avdesh to come because he knows Avdesh well enough that he will respond to other's pain not his own....Eventually, at some point I think the cop will target Arpi - not to torture her, but appealing to her love instead....that will be very powerful.
One other thing, when bhootni approached Avdesh and RV, she was concerned and for the first time I got a glimpse of how she must have taken care of Avdesh when he was younger, slightly maternal...even Avdesh looked almost happy when Bhauji came, it was like they were a team....
