Chapter 4:
"Aham Bhai!" Jigar yelled, rushing into Aham's cabin at the office.
He looked up, "Hm?"
"Aham Bhai! You have to go with me to the mall. I completely forgot that I have to buy Rashi a present!"
"A present? What for?"
And Jigar was stumped. How was he supposed to respond to that? Uff, stupid me for not thinking up my fake stories before hand! "I...tomorrow...tomorrow is mine and Rashi's 4 and a half months of dating anniversary! I have to get her a present. You know how it is!" Jigar exclaimed, his excuse souding stupid as the words spilled out of his mouth.
"Let's clarify that. 1) I don't know how that is, I'm not getting married by choice, remember? Like you are? And 2) 4.5 month dating anniversay? Are you crazy?"Aham questioned, rolling his eyes as he went back to his typing. "I have better things to do with my life Jigar, in case you haven't noticed. Helping you shop for your woman is not at the top of my list right now."
Jigar came up even closer, folding his hands as he pleaded. "But Bhai! You have to come! If you come, no one will say anything because Dad and Parag (Chacha? (can anyone help me out?!)) think I don't do any work to begin with. Please Bhai! And, you don't have to help me shop. Rashi is coming anyways. You can just chill in the coffee shop!"
"So I'm pretty much just your excuse to get out of the office, and then you do your thing while I can do whatever I want?" Aham asked. "Hmm.. That sounds like a plan."
Jigar smiled.
"Of course. Just bring your phone and you can work, while 4 o'clock then, we'll get to Riverview Shopping Center. Thanks so much Bhai!" Jigar yelled as he ran out of his brother's office, but of course, not before blowing him a flying kiss to tell him how much he loves him.
Aham chuckled watching him leave, "Save all that love for Rashi! Not me!" he winked, before heading back to his work.
His crazy cousin. Oh the things he did for him, making excuses to leave the office, coming up with wild stories, helping him out in alll his work, and well, the latest, getting married so he could too. What a life!
*~*~*~*~*~*
"Gopi Di! Let's go grab a cup of coffee before we set out on our shopping adventure" Rashi looked over at her sister, a pout on her face. Gopi rolled her eyes, and nodded slightly.
"But we have to hurry up, because I need to get home to finish some work that I have pending."
"Han han, theek hain. Whatever you say. Let's just get some coffee first" rambled Rashi, grabbing her sister's hand and steering her towards the coffee store.
*~*~*~*~*~*
"Where is Rashi? How long are we supposed to wait for her?" asked Jigar, exasperated.
"Patience is a virtue my boy. She'll come here eventually and the both of you can run off to do whatever you do." Aham responded, a smirk on his face.
"Just wait Bhai, once you fall in love, you'll be tadpaoing just like I am."
"Forget it. I'm not falling in love with anyone, self proclaimed bachelor. Remember or do you have short term memory loss or something?"
"Well Mr. Aham Modi, I don't think it's me that has the STML, it's you. Yesterday. Gopi Di, I mean Gopi Bhabhi. My Wedding. Your wedding."
Realization seemed to dawn over Aham, as he groaned. Damnit! Damnit! Damnit!
"I completely forgot about her! DAMNIT. Dude, is she coming today? She probably will, with her sister. Ok, I'm out. Have fun Jiggy Bhai, but uh I'm leaving. I don't need to see the devil herself. Marriage. What a stupid thought" muttered Aham, pushing his chair back as he stood to leave.
Before Jigar could say anything to stop his brother, Aham himself froze not 5 steps away from their table.
"She's here." Aham muttered through gritted teeth.
And Jigar looked up to see Rashi and Gopi talking, or maybe arguing over something as they stepped into the store.
"Rashi! Over here!" he called out, grabbing her attention and Rashi dragged her sister towards them, before she could even utter a word in protest.
And the four just kind of stood there. Gopi and Aham glanced at each other, moreso glared at each other, before looking away.
Gopi looked at Jigar and smiled sweetly, "Hi my dear devarji. What are you doing here?" she questioned.
And Aham turned towards Rashi, "So Rashi, excited about your little date with Jigar now? Awesome planning here." he winked. "But I'm heading out now. You both have fun together!" he said and started to walk away when Jigar quickly grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him back, shaking his head No.
"Oh no Aham bhai. and you aren't going anywhere either Gopi Bhabhi" he called out, pulling Gopi back too with his other hand as she shot a glare at Rashi and began to walk away.
"Jigar, Rashi. This isn't funny. Let us go. We both have a billion and one other things to do. You both enjoy yourselves" Aham said calmly, a stern look on his face.
This time Rashi spoke up. "We know that the entire um situation has been sprung up on you both but you really need to talk. You are getting married so you both really do need to get to know each other, just a little."
Gopi rolled her eyes as her sister spoke. "Rashi, shut up. I don't need your advice, and I'm sure your future brother in law doesn't either. We're both adults. We can figure things out ourselves, thank you very much."
Rashi shuddered. Her sister was annoyed, and she would be epicly screwed once she got home. No doubt about it.
Aham smirked, as a light bulb seemed to go off in his head. Hmm. Something had to be done to get rid of those two. He had to talk to Gopi. He quickly cleared his throat, "You know what? You guys are right. We both do need to talk. You both leave. We'll see you in an hour. Pakka." Aham reached over to grab Gopi's hand, and indicated to Rashi and Jigar to leave. And the two wasted no time, quickly getting away from firebrand Gopi before she turned around and slapped the two across their faces.
As soon as they left, Gopi started screaming. "What the hell do you think of yourself? Making decisions for me? I don't want to marry you, and I won't be marrying you either. You get ---"
Before she could continue, he quickly placed a hand over her mouth, sliding a hand around her waist to pull her closer to himself, "Shh. We're in a store, a public place. Everyone here can hear us and they're staring" he whispered softly, but she continued to struggle in his arms, grabbing hold of his shirt in an attempt to push him away.
"Stop struggling. And let me finish. I'm sure you'll want to hear this too" he insisted, pulling her even closer to himself. "Because I think this would be the perfect time for us to plot a way to get out of this marriage."
And she stopped struggling, and looked up at him her eyes wide with curiosity.
*~*~*~*~*~*
"So how do you think it's working out between them? Think they'll get along? Can we peek?" Rashi was getting more and more excited as she threw a whole slew of questions at Jigar.
"Oh They would be perfect for each other! If only they just talked. But I think this worked Rashi, I really do" answered Jigar, but let's go back and check on them to see what they're doing.
*~*~*~*~*~*
"Look, hear me out before you say anything" began Aham as he saw that Gopi was about to open her mouth after they had settled across from each other. And she stopped, and nodded slowly.
"It's our parents that want us to get married. I sure as heck don't want to get married, and from your outburst yesterday and reaction on seeing me today, I'm sure that you don't either. Right?"
Gopi blushed, as she nodded slightly. "I...I'm sorry for having been so rude. It's just...it's that you were the last person I expected to see here, and well I don't want to get married. Nothing against you personally" she added a small sile playing on her face.
Aham shook his head as he waved his hand in the air, "No big deal, I understand. But the point being, neither of us want to get married. And we need to get out of this wedding. Everyone else wants us to get married. So we have to figure out some way, do some thing so that we stop our wedding. But just ours, not Rashi's and Jigar's. Poor the both of them, they actually want to get married."
Gopi gritted her teeth on hearing their names. "At the moment, I wouldn't even mind sabotaging their wedding either. They tricked us! Can you believe it?! They tricked us. Rashi told me she wanted to buy a sari for her date with him for TOMORROW! And Jigar...wait, what did he tell you?"
Aham slouched his shoulders. This girl was just impossible. "Gopi, dear, listen. Can we stay on topic without you finding something or the other to fret about or get angry over? It's already been 40 minutes. And Jigar and Rashi will be here any time soon."
"Oh right, sorry about that. Yes, continue" Gopi smiled nervously.
*~*~*~*~*~*
"So, I think we should head back now. They're actually smiling and everything." And so Rashi and Jigar headed back to their siblings' table.
Everything was fine now.
Gopi and Aham were happy to get married to each other.
Or so they thought.
