💔....One Step Ahead...💔

She found the road unusually empty today. Walking towards the school she looked around to see nothing, no-one! Breaking through her chain of thoughts she looked around, and immediately began speeding up.
No footsteps heard, no shadow to be seen, yet she could feel someone following her. A twig break alerts her, and she looks around one more time, horrified!
"Hey!" Elena almost jumps, turning around to see the impossible!
"Umm, hey..!!" Elena calmed her thudding heart down and continued, "Hey Damon!" She smiled.
Damon was wearing a light blue-silvery shirt and a pair of denims. The colour of his shirt, matching his drool-worthy eyes. He looked like a godly figure, to Elena. She couldn't help but stare at him.
"Mind If I accompany you?"
"Umm, no..actually I'm happy you're here." Elena confessed, with a sigh of relief.
"Oh.Is that so?" Damon smirked.
"Yeah!" Elena whispered as they began walking slowly.
"May I ask..Why!?" Damon flashed his teeth, looking at her.
"Umm, coz the emptiness of the area was freaking me out." Elena looked around one more time. It sent shiver through her spines once again.
"Ooh!" Damon pouted and narrowed his eyes looking around.
"Doesn't that scare you?" Elena looked around and asked him.
"Uhh? No way! Phh!!" Damon smirked, amused.
Elena nodded and dropped her gaze.
"How many times do you get to accompany a pretty girl that too in a forlorn road huh? That pretty much sounds fantastic to me!" Damon winked as Elena looked up at him. Elena smiled.
"Seems not too long, Mister." Elena smiled. They had reached the school. Damon sighed.
"Not that lucky, isn't it?" Damon was eternally cursing the road builders for making such a short path too the school, he was enjoying this tiny journey with Elena.
"But hey! I get to escort you to the class. That quiet counts!" Damon placed his hands for Elena.
Elena's heart beat stopped. The sun light flashing its brilliantly golden rays on the beautiful face made him the center of gazes right now. While all the curious looks glued to the new duo walking inside the school, Elena placed her ands on his...now & forever :)
The two walked inside the school, hand in hand.
Time passed sooner than they had expected, they had reached the class.
"Ummm, hey!" Damon grabbed Elena's attention as they entered the class room.
Elena's eyes fell on yellow diary in his hands.
"I guess this belongs to you? Doesn't it?"
"Oh yeah!" Elena, confused..however, took the diary.
"Where did you get it?"
"Umm, the other day..outside the cemetery..I saw you running away..and you seemed to be in a hurry since your diary stayed behind." Damon smirked.
"Oh. I was scared.." Elena tried to justify her actions, embarrassed.
"Scared? In a cemetery at night-fall? Oh no way!" Damon narrowed his eyes sarcastically.
"Scared, as I was being followed." Elena cut him through.
"But I don't think you'd be scared of that, Mr. Batman!" Elena rolled her eyes.
"I'll be scared, Elena-Hence, you shall accompany me there next time." Damon winked, flirteously . Elena couldn't help but blush at the glint of naughtiness in his eyes.
"Ummm, hey Elena!" Elena and Damon both looked up to see Bonnie and Caroline standing there, visibly shocked!
"Hey!" Elena smiled and greeted them both with a smile. Noticing the horrified faces of each, Elena looked around to see all the eyes resting on her.
Embarrassed, she looked down, when she realized the reason.
Damon and Elena all this while engrossed dint notice the posture they stood in.
Elena, forced due to habit, leaned her body against the wall. Damon kept his hands protectively on one side of Elena, leaning on her. The two were unusually close, currently.
"Hey Damon!" Both the girls greeted Damon.
"Hey!" Damon forced a smile.
"Caroline, how did this happen?" Elena pointed at the bandaged area around Caroline's neck. Damon's expressions hardened.
"I don't know."
"Wha..What!" Bonnie and Elena both knit their eyebrows looking at her.
"Actually, when I got up in the morning I noticed it. I don't remember receiving such a wonderful gift!" Caroline held her neck, in pain.
"This seriously pains." Caroline closed her eyes.
"I'll take your leave now, girls." Damon interrupted the conversation.
"Bye!" Bonnie and Caroline said in a single voice.
"Bye!" Damon looked at the both and smile.
Damon looked at Elena for one last time, and left.
"Ooh!!" Both the girls giggled, while Elena rolled her eyes. She had seen it coming, the girly teasing was quiet obvious.
Everything was perfect, as she had seen it..every bit as she had counted it. She could see the things settling in. What if it was not? What no body had seen was..it was all falling apart!!
