There have been a few posts since yesterday suggesting or rather expressing fears of an exponential use of jealousy to move the LTL story forward, but I would rather, the CV's refrain from jumping on that boat as one possible solution to bring Dutta back to the world of the living and loving, as it may not work for he is not yet a jealous husband.
Indeed, apart from the first time when we saw Dutta embrace a life of crime to avenge Seema's betrayal with the grizzly "garagewalla"đĄđĄđĄ, he has not really been shown as possessing a jealous bone. Were it post Supriya's elopement with her BG (can't remember his name now) or post the drama of Nakusha's and his second wedding, he has been an ardent torchbearer of truth (at least the truth he knows or has been shown by people around him), hence the raging storm inside and around him. And today, I breathed a sigh of relief which may very well prove to be premature at this point.
Dutta has never shirked from exteriorising his fears and insecurities or verbalising his love and dependence vis a vis Naku, and certainly Baaji too, but it was heartwrenching to see him embrace the two individuals closest to him and pulling them towards his beloved Bar in PN. God, I love that one unit in Pagal Niwas as we have seen Dutta at his best in what could very well be his personal haven until the storm in his life subsides. His conversation, reeking of drunkenness, yet wistful, painful, full of remonstrations for both his best friend and the latter's "vayhiniji" was a visual delight.
MR/MV and BAAJI, please accept my most reverent bows.đđđ
Dutta may not show any signs that he will ever forgive Nakusha or Baaji for the moment but his body language, clearly, portrayed his despair and sense of loss. This Dutta was not a jealous man but a drunk, hurt and shattered husband/friend/son/brother whose subconscious does not want to acknowledge the fact that those closest to him could ever hit him below the belt. He refers to his "dharampatni" with a voice laced with sarcasm. Ditto for his childhood friend's loyalty that he questions with amusement as to the time he discovered his wife's secret. But he does not accuse them of the ultimate sin of cheating him in a dirty and immoral way. And, Thank God for that as LTL and Dutta as the central character would lose the charm that has enthralled viewers for almost a year. MR may prove to be a brilliant Othello, were he ever roped in to play in an adaptation of Shakespeare's classic tale of love and treachery but Dutta should not fall in this trap.
We hope that Monday will not deflate our hopes after what we witnessed at the PN Bar and Naku forced at the helm of such a special place in Dutta's life was almost cruel comfort. The God of Wine Bacchus may be tempted to come to the poor soul's rescue! The DEVAR/VEYHINI "tandem" has been offered the golden chalice today with Dutta's first invitation to tell the truth. Let's hope that they make hay while the going is good. And will somebody record the conversation just in case some of the twisted elements of P/Niwas were to decide that they could use the event unfolding before us to further their sick causes. Or on a positive note to jolt Dutta's memory when the time is right just in case he is too drunk to register whatever will be uttered by Nakusha and Baaji.
Good Luck to all in this beleaguered team of the Devar and his vayhini ji for what is, undoubtedly, going to be their only shot in the arm that Dutta will give for a long time. The drama and the conspiracy is yet to be uncoverd and once that phase over months is over (courtsey CV's), all of us fans of Dutta/Nakusha will revel in MR's portrayal of Dutta as the jealous and possessive husband.đ
