Sidhartha Mallya is not going to like this. The buzz is that Deepika Padukone is not his girlfriend; their relationship is allegedly just an, well, official agreement meant to keep him in the news and show him in the media as a man about town ' in short, the right heir to step into Dr Vijay Mallya's flamboyant boots.

The best way to confirm this gossip, naturally, was to confront the lady herself.

But Deepika said she would never admit to a relationship with the Mallya scion. "I don't think I will ever be ready," was her reasoning. And she has reasons despite being seen as a comfortable couple with Sid painting the town red. "Various reasons, actually," she emphasised, "Too much focus went on to my personal life last year and took away from everything else. I have been working hard and people love me because of that and not because of where I'm going for dinner and with whom. So, let speculations of whether I'm dating Sid be," she added.

In the past, admitting to her relationship with ranbir kapoor did not help as people went further and asked about marriage, babies and other things. So now the curiosity suits her. "It's not harming me. I won't stop leading my kind of life because of speculation and for worry about what people are saying. Admitting or denying my relationship won't stop people from speculating.

And I will not let anything come into that personal space anymore. I draw the line here," said the actress who's had five back-to-back releases this year establishing her as Bollywood's young flavour of the season.

Meanwhile, since her next film Break Ke Baad is a romantic comedy about whether a couple can get back after a break-up, Deepika's being harassed by questions about Ranbir again. All of which have left the actress hopping mad. Her replies, though guarded and without mentioning names, are naturally attributed to her ex-flame. As we did in the case of Salman and Katrina, TOI would like to say, does it really matter who's seeing who? Both stars have moved on and appear happy in their personal spaces. And they remain cordial. How do we know? They came to our 16th Bombay Times Anniversary Party... separately, of course, but bumped into each other and spent time chatting.
