hey all

okay...

recently on tv, i happened to catch RGV's satya, a gangster flick abt Mumbai underworld. And boy...i was totally, gobsmackingly wowed!! I didnt even know that such a film existed b4 i saw it just 2 days ago...but now that ive seen it...i was like "where have u been all my life???? and how did i miss this?" so i went and did sum research and turns out that it released in 1998, the same year KKHH released...now as a 6 year old, i was probably more interested in fluff and SRK and in my "dreamy eyed-ness" of it all, i probably missed this one.....anywayz....i wanted to know how many on this forum have actually seen this movie ?? and ppl who have seen it, what r their views on this movie??...would luv to read them....

another point to ponder, is that satya didn't win any major awards...saving the critics awards at filmfare...as that year's awards were whitewashed by KKHH.. in retrospect which film do u think was more deserving??

Do post ur views...
Luv
Neelu

PS: this topic is not a lisence to bash Kjo, RGV or any other actor/filmmaker....its just for sum healthy discussion...however, criticism and arguments made in a civilized manner are more than welcome.

I've seen it and it's a brilliant film. This was during RGV's better days when he directed films like Rangeela, Kaun and Company. I wish he'd go back to that because Bollywood is in dire need of good cinema again (not crap like Aag, Naach and Nishabd).

Saw it, great movie, was put off by the main actor at first. It's been a long time since I watched it, don't remember much, other than the start, one scene in the middle and the end, 😆. The ending was a little crazy back when I watched it since I was much younger, now that I think of it, it's kind of melodramatic.
Did you watch any of the these:
Dayavan
Company
Shootout At Lokhandwala
Vaasatv
Agnepaath
I'm guessing you most likely have since they are newer or have a more high profile cast...

seen the tamil version of Dayavan (Nayagan *ing kamal hassan), seen company and vastav...but no...havent seen either of SOAL or agneepath...I thought vaastav was a bit cliche and melodramatic...and company, i remember liking it....but not being enamored by it like i was with satya....Nayagan was okayish...but it glorified the protagnist a bit too much and kamal was desperately trying to imitate marlon Brando....

Yeah, don't remember much about it, read the plot summary, sounds like a good movie, don't even think it's a copy of a Hollywood movie, good job RGV.

I love Satya!! Was scared of Kaun and thought Urmila did a fabulous job. Its good to see that you've discovered this side of Indian cinema 😊
