It's Diwali on MKAP and we get a glimpse of Saxes and Takurs celebration this holiday at the same location. Mathurs boys extend invitation to Saxes, Saxes gatecrash Takurs Diwali fun and Prof. continues to prove the lights are on, but nobody's home.đ
FORGET THE PAST, CHEER UP FAST
WHO: Krishna and Prats
WHERE: Kriya's Paradise in Takur Niwas
WHAT WENT BEFORE: It's Diwali. Prats is sad her rangoli was washed out by the Queen of Mean. Baba defends "Bauji is not educated like you all he knows is that Diwali is the opportunity to play cards. Why do you take it to heart? He doesn't know the colors in a rangoli, all he knows are the colors in playing cards".
WHAT COMES NEXT: Krishna promises to get her favorite firecrackers while trying to cheer her up and asks her to give him a smile, after all it's Diwali.
COMMENTS: Got to give Baba his due credit for the lengths he goes to just to make Prats happy every day of his life. He has abided by the saat pheres he took with Prats.
WHO: Saxes & Jai Bro and SCAMWHERE: Green House at Mumfordgunj
WHAT HAPPENS FIRST: Mathur mards bring gifts and invite Saxes to spend Diwali with their family. Prof. agrees to come by after visiting Takurs first.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: Komal offers tea to SCAM but slams the cup in front of Jai Bro. Jai looks around uncomfortably and extends his heartfelt apologizes for his role in Adarsh's accident. "You have had so much hardship because of me and I am ready for any punishment".
WHY: Komal is still upset Jai hurt Adarsh and refuses to forgive him though her sasural and husband were ready to forgive and forget.
COMMENTS: Komal if you only knew the truth about this two-timing two-faced groom-to-be you would have poured the garam chai over his head. Like Krishna she speaks from her heart and gives them the truth straight up not what dishing out what they want to hear. Can't wait to see what she do when Aman's duplicity is revealed. Or will she even find out if Arushi decides to marry him anyways?
A GAME OF DICE, A FATHER'S ADVICE
WHO: SS, KN, Baba, SS's friends
WHERE: Situation Room, Takur Niwas.
WHAT: Card and dice games
WHAT HAPPENS FIRST: After a bad roll of the dice, one of the guests taunts Krishna "Today is not your day. Do you have anything else to bet". He asks SS to fork over some dough for his bets and promises to repay when he gets a winning hand. SS gives him a mini baashan "There are no winners and losers in a game of dice it's all about who's got the money to gets to play the game. I can't give you any credit line to play the game. If you have the money play the game or leave the game." He looks around at the other men "What do you think of this prize. It doesn't matter if Raja Nal or SS plays, it's mine" Baba tugs his ring off his finger and lays his bet down. Prats silently dissuades him but Baba assures her with confidence. SS reminds Baba I made this ring for you". Krishna says "but it's mine now" and lays it down as his bet.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: Prats hands over a tray of food for the mard playing dice in the hall. Takurain taunts Prats "If you can go to the court house and jail on your own why are you shy to serve food in your own house. Now take the food and serve to them". As Prats approaches them Krishna tells the man taunting him he doesn't lose and leave the It's KN's turn to play. He's broke. No surprises there! He grabs Kesar's hand and announces he is betting his wife. SS is enraged by his drunkard son's humiliating behavior. Krishna looks on with a hurtful expression at his brother's disgusting behavior. SS rails at KN "You are pledging your wife? Have you thought about who will take her, what will happen to her?" KN lets Kesar go.
COMMENTS: SS was making a clear point that Krishna was living off of him. SS may have tweaked Krishna's brain a tad today but does he really get the significance of what his father was attempting to convey to him indirectly in front of his friends. Is SS deliberately trying to shame Krishna into growing up, taking responsibility and start earning his own keep? At this point in his life, Krishna has been slowly distancing himself from his family and strengthening his bond with Prats. Has he become immune to their taunts and insults by now that he discounts even their sensible advice to him? It appears Prats is the only person who can get through to him. When will and how long will it be before she takes a drastic step to catapult him into action to earning his living instead of running circles around her all day. Even Tunna/Chandu seem to see him less these days. Is he still concerned for Prats's safety in this jungalee house?
Baba's Pearls of Wisdom on this Special Day:
Helping a blind man doesn't make a person a victim(hunted).
One who loses at dice wins at love.
ROLL THE DICE, OR REBIRTH OF MICE
WHO: Saxes and Takurs + guests
WHERE: Takur Niwas
WHAT HAPPENS FIRST: The Saxes were hovering by the front door while Prats stood behind Krishna who is playing dice with a group of mard. Prof. enters with his family in tow. Arushi runs over and the sisters embrace. Komal wants to play dice and Adarsh tries to talk her out of it. She never loses so she wants to play like old times at her maike.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: SS invites Prof. to play dice. You are Prof. how do you celebrate Diwali? If you don't play dice you are born a rodent in your next life. SS teases him "learn some good habits in life. Come play, it's an honest game". Prof. who is a few cards short of a full deck declines on the grounds that he does not believe in such traditions.
COMMENTS: This was the first time Prats did not go running "Papa' when he entered the Takur Niwas. She is finally making it crystal clear to her maike that her home is now with Krishna and he is her world. No more dashing across the room to Mummy Papa. She shows all of them she is now Takurain Pratigya Krishna Singh. Move over Takurain Sumitra Devil Singh. What do you believe in Shamu? Even the ones you claim to believe in you don't apply. So why did you show up at the Takurs uninvited? To ruin their fun even if it's not what you want to do? Party pooper! Thank you but we don't play dice. We just play with crackers and enjoy Diwali. Good idea, will burst crackers and celebrate Diwali. Was that a smart move by Krishna? A smooth transition from the verge of losing the game of chance to being an amiable host and entertaining his sasural however disrespectful they are to him. Krishna was distancing himself from his father's traditions and ready to enjoy Diwali, Prats's way. Prats has distanced herself from her family. She doesn't fawn over them like she always did. She keeps her distance and maintains her cool and it is Arushi who came to hug her. She is standing behind Krishna.as he plays his game. They are both slowly strengthening their bond as a couple while loosening the hold their parents have over them. Prats has let her family know that Krishna is now her family and top priority.
PLAY WITH FIREWORKS, CAUGHT ON FIRE
WHO: Saxes with Kriya
WHERE: Takur courtyard
WHAT HAPPENS FIRST: Before the partriarchs of the Sax and Takur clan lock horns Krishna takes his sasural out to the courtyard to celebrate Diwali in their tradition. Krishna like a little kid is enjoying the fireworks and giving his sasural a good time with the crackers. The Saxes are auditorally sensitive people and wince at the sound of crackers exploding.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT: Arushi's pallu catches fire and she calls out to her mother while waving her pallu. To make matters worse Nainaji comes to help her wave her saree even more and making things worse. A horny KN ogles Arushi in his drunken stupor. Arushi quickly strips off her saree while Krishna has the presence of mind to get water and douse the flames. Prats grabs a towel from near by and wraps Arushi with it.
COMMENTS: The educated Saxes could learn a thing or two from Krishna about being willing to try something new for a change. You Saxsenas lead such a dull life never venturing out of the home to mingle with friends, pretty soon you will be rooted to the ground in the house. Krishna excitedly shows his sasural a good time with crackers.
How ironic, the Saxes celebrating their Diwali their way outside the Niwas and Takurs having their fun inside following their own traditions. This is patently ridiculous. What was the point in coming to the Takurs if each family were to do their own celebrating on their own? The Saxes were ready to serve a five course meal every time Aman showed up on their doorstep yet on their daughter's first Diwali post-marriage they are so miserly let's forget the gifts, can't they bring a couple of fruits or a few sweets for their hosts? It's after all the thought that counts. Looks like Prof. wanted to have a free Diwali celebration like he did the wedding courtesy of the Takurs. The way Prats was ignoring her family one would think she didn't know them. No talk or chat with any of them. Krishna is civil and playing perfect host entertaining his in-laws. Prats is hovering around Krishna and ignoring her family. The umbilical cord has been cut. The Saxes are standing together separately as Krishna and Prats are standing together by themselves. Krishna lights a cracker and Prats freaks out and runs to protect Krishna. Is this a signal that Prats is about to defend Krishna from a terrible incident? A drunken KN comes outside staggering. Arushi must be a magnet that calls out to him. Does she want to put out the flames or have it spread ? I guess she has never had a fire drill in her life before. Instead of rolling on the floor to put out the fire she is waving her pallu in the air flaming the fire even more and endangering the two other women by her side.
