How did Priyanka get to where she is today?

😃 Ok, I have never made a topic on Priyanka. The girl has indeed come a long way. After her Miss World win in 2000, she made a solid Bollywood career with successful films such as Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Aitraaz, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Krrish, Don - The Chase Begins Again, Dostana, Kaminey, and Fashion. With a above average success in Anjaana Anjaani, Priyanka still cannot be written off. I think her best role will be Saat Khoon Maaf. It looks to be the most complex role of her career.

I know she has had a lot of flops, but who doesn't? 😕 She has proved her acting and mettle. But, how do you think Priyanka got to where she is today? Hard work, luck, working with the right costars? I think Priyanka will easily cross the decade mark and by that time, she will have nothing else to prove. Does she need to prove anything else? Only time will tell. Please shed some light on Priyanka's journey, I want to get your take on this. 😲

i think its because shes hardworking, talented, intelligent and also does an amazing job of sucking up to ppl within the industry. 😆....shes a versatile actor and although she does have heaps of flops, like kareena, i dunt think they effect her much. If people like watching someone onscreen, flops wouldn't matter. One can't be written off as long as the audience wants to see them. Also, the amount of gradual improvement she has shown since the time shes debuted shows that ppl have eventually warmed up to the fact that she can act. Her choice of films (looking at her future movies) is also very good as she is trying to balance it out by getting both commercial and critical acclaim. I think wht ppl like abt her is the fact that she takes risks and tries to do different kinds of roles. Shes had the opportunity to work with some of the best actors/directors in the industry in the past 2-3 years...and they have bought out the best in her. If she was stuck with raj kanwars and anil sharmas...she would have kept hamming big time.....glad that someone rescued her from such films.

Completely agree! And I would to also like to add that she never stuck to big names.

She worked so hard to get where she is now. I never understand why people compare her with Kareena. Kareena debuted in 2000 and Priyanka 2003. She should be compare to Katrina who also debuted in 2003.

^^3 years is not that much of a difference yaar...they are both contemporaries so obviously they would be compared to each other...its inevitable...plus...it gives us all a field day to get into massive intense debates here on IF!! watte fun!! 😆

1) She is talented enough when you compare her with her contemporaries.

2) She is not one of those actresses to play the "weepy" roles. The characters she played (Aitraaz, Fashion, Kaminey and now Saat Khoon Maaf) are quite complex if you compare them with the typical sati-savitri roles that Bollywood actresses keep on playing.

3) She didn't really have to face much competition in the industry. All the meaty roles were delivered to her or Kareena because, hey, they are the only two moderately talented actresses Bollywood have at this point.

4) She did suck up to big names in the industry, let's not turn a blind eye to that. With Mr. Kumar giving her bazillion of movies at the beginning of her career, and her sucking up to SRK at every chance she could get helped her a lot too.

5) She seems to be pretty hard-working judging from the media reports.

6) Her choice in films have improved post Fashion. I have not seen her in another half-baked role or c-graded movie (barring PI, though she performed quite well) after that.

Priyanka is extremely intelligent, which i think most certainly has helped her get the edge over her competition. She knows when to take a film, and when to drop it.

Also i do feel she is lucky, because many of her films went to Kareena or Aishwarya first, and then to her - Aitraaz(the role went to Kareena first), Krrish(Aishwarya) Fashion (Kareena), Dostana(Kareena and Aishwarya), Kaminey(Kareena), whats your Raashee(Kareena)..

But she has given great performances in Aitraaz, Fashion and Whats your Raashee(havent watched kaminey). Shes mastered emotional scenes, but i think she needs to work on comic scenes.

I think Saat Khoon Maaf and Anurag Basus film will take her to the next level altogether.

Well, I think Miss World was a big launcher for her. I think she got her initial roles like Andaaz and Aitiraaz because she looked the part of a young, seductive woman. But she clearly proved her acting potential in both those roles, esp playing a negative female character in Aitraaz at such a young age, and won the hearts of audiences and industry people. After that she really tried to pick her roles as best as she could, wanting to prove that she could be versatile and not just look pretty, and when MB offered her Fashion, she got the chance to do just that! Although I found it funny that she kept turning down this role thinking she couldn't do it, lol! But I'm glad MB bugged her so much, and she finally did it! After that she hasn't been so afraid to experiment and take risks! And I really admire her for always taking risks! And I think directors and producers admire her for that too, which is why she's always offered these meaty roles! Whenever I read interviews of people who have worked with her, they always say how much effort she puts into everything and always wanting to develop her character. She's always involved herself in the entire film-making process, which I think is a big reason she's come so far. That's how she learnt everything about her job, because she had no godfather and came in as an outsider.

Hardwork, Dedication, Sincerity and extremely down to earth nature has made what PC is today.... being on the top is not only restricted to acting only but also one's interaction with fans and PC truly conquers alot of hearts in that area😳...mine for one.... I also love the fact she hasn't stuck to one genre but explored different genres and looks in various films. She is truly the best in the business.

Priyanka is one of the most successful actresses today and my second favorite! She has reached to where she is all on her own. With hard work and sheer luck! She may have a few flops here and there but she worked her a** off on each and every movie of hers! Many of her performances really stood out to not only the audience but also to the critics! Some of her best works are : Andaaz, Aitraaz, Karam ('ve heard but haven't seen), Fashion, Kaminey and Whats Your Rashee! I also think she was fantastic (acting wise) in The Hero, Barsaat and Don! And she is very frank! She replies to her fans on twitter almost every week (OR MORE!). She is so down to earth. Always calm and composed. She doesn't get into this competition stuff and just comments nice things on other actresses. Not too much ot too little! Just in the middle. Overall she's really a normal girl at heart but with hard work and dedication she became a huge superstar! I am so proud of this girl😊
