Thanks VB,
This was one episode I loved watching. Thanks SRGMP for getting someone on board who made the entire episode watchable without using RM ........remote control ji....😆
a) Great to see a judge/ guest who let his work talk for him and not his actions 👏👏- Else some of the guests are so tacky it takes away the fun from the show.
And what a repertoire of songs, not just the way they are sung or composed, but even the way they were shot on screen
b) Jungle Jungle - Ohh what a trip down memory lane😃. I remember my sister and I were in school when this song was aired as part of Jungle Book and we would hold curtains or the window sill and sway and attempt that we were Mouglis 😆😆......running away from our parents scoldings😆😆
Ahhh.......best part of life.....😃😍
Thank you VB..for something so innocent.
c) O Saathi Rey - I dont necessarily like the lyrics in the antara, but the song is hauntingly sensous. One of the personal favorite on the long wintry evening walks and things thereafter 😳😆😆
And whilst we are at it, kudos to VB for making an unshaven Ajay Devgun look thouroughy wantable in the song😳 especially when he runs all over the mansion with Kareena in pursuit.☺️
d) Pehli baar mohabbat ki hai ☺️- As VB himself said, again lovely, just simple and lovely.
Poetry is not just great usage of words but great representation of Ideas........something aka a Daffodils😊
e) Dil to baccha hai ji - Now who could imagine that this is so true.......especially when childhood and teens is past me.......be it the fights and conspiracies with my siblings....or my first crush......or the first time I felt responsible in life.......par dil to bachha hai ji.😳😳
And last but not the least
f) Nainon ki mat maaniyo rey
Can there be any more truth than that.....👏👏........be it in our personal lives, or the world we live in......
Naina thag lenge😳
Brilliant😳

Thank you for stepping by 😊
Musicmuse and tulipbaby53
Thanks😊 😊
I indeed liked it and the insight VB gave into the background of some of the songs. He was very candid about his life, without coming off as overbearing or proud.
Especilly liked the anecdotes he shared about his mentor Gulzar and Rekha, his wife.😊
And was fascinated with the range VB has had in his career. I mean Chappa Chappa charkha chaley is also VB's ........isnt that fascinating....or "Dhan te naan", that as a background tune in some of the 70s 80s movies...so fascinating to turn that into a song and then re-visit it 10 years later.
I could really relate to some of his songs😳.....though some times I am wary of the very dark view with which he paints his movies, for example, I found Kaminey very disturbing, in the sense that it revels in everything amoral, but at the same time it was a very multi layered movie, about brothers, siblings, greed, ethics, loss of faith and love👏

I watched Saregamapa after several weeks and only because I wanted to see VB judge and he didn't disappoint. A pleasure to see an intelligent, super-talented man conduct himself with dignity and grace. Respect to him.

I think this is a matter of interpretation. IMO it humanizes the amoral and does not necessarily revel in it. I think it suggests that people who live in the world of crime and dirt are perfectly likable like the rest of us . You cannot separate their likability from their criminal minds and similarly people who live ordinary lives can reveal themselves to be thoroughly amoral. The essence of the movie is perfectly described in the title song.

Jiska bhi chehra cheela, andar se aur nikla,
Masoom sa kabootar naacha to more nikla,
Kabhi hum kaminey nikle, kabhi doosre kaminey,
Kaminey kaminey kaminey kaminey,
Meri dosti kamini, mere yaar bhi kaminey,
Ek dil se dosti thi, yeh huzoor bhi kaminey…

I loved both your posts Kasturilover and Sushratapandey. So true do not judge the book by its cover and all that glitters is not gold. There is some good in criminals too and one should try to look at such people from a totally different perception...The so called angels may be the worst people.
i am always reminded of Abhram Lincolns quote.."A man without any vices has no virtues".

Best episode so far. VB had such informative comments and suggestions to the singers - rather than just "Mindblowing", "good performance brudder" and "Rab Rakha". I personally don't like his movies too much; but have watched most of them just for the music. Great man and humble person!

wow after a very very very very long time, in fact after aeons, an interesting and meaningful thread dedicated to a man that I also hold in very high esteem. As a music director and as a film director and also as a fine human being. I am also a big fan of his wife's voice and singing.
And oh yes jungle jungle evokes so many sweet memories in me too and I still keep humming this lovely innocent amazing and haunting jingle!!
Thanks guys. It's heartening to know that there are some like-minded people on this forum and things and pathos and feelings that we share.
Padma
