Krishnamurtyji finds out everything about Shweta's past and background. He tells Priyamvada that she comes from an upper middle – class family, has a very ambitious mother who had her engaged to some industrialist before she met Karan. But Shweta broke off her engagement because he wanted her to quit films and be a housewife. She met Karan at a party and ever since the mother and daughter pair have Karan in their 'jaal'

Karan tells Shweta that she should stop signing films now but she says that if his mother delays the marriage she doesn't want to spoil her career. Shweta's father is not very happy with the idea of getting his daughter married to Karan, but he goes with him to meet Priyamvada. Karan takes Shweta and her parents home and introduces them to Urvashi and Priyamvada. Priyamvada indirectly makes it very clear that she is not in favour of the marriage and behaves cordially but very stiff-necked with them. Krishnamurtyji comes in and tells Priyamvada that some foreign delegates have come to meet her and ensures that Karan also comes along. Shweta is very angry and tells her mother that she will never forgive Karan or not supporting her in front of Priyamvada. But her mother calms he down by saying that she should not make an ego issue and see to it that she gets married to Karan.

Kritika is going out somewhere when Urvashi calls her to sit with her and Priyamvada. Priyamvada asks her to take more interest in family matters. Urvashi asks Priyamvada about her views on Shweta. Priyamvada says that she feels that Shweta is not fit for either Karan or the family. Kritika says that like her, now it will be Karan who will be heart – broken and leaves.
