Thanks everyone for your responses and glad to know at least some of you didn't like the turn of events like me.
Well first: Some of you ask, Why should Geet keep quiet? That comes into play only because the Cv's took the story in that direction. I would love for her to scream it from the roof tops but with Maan. Remember she has just left her engagement to a guy who stood by her. should she not at least have spoken to him first as to who the father is before she makes a public declaration!
I know the whole story is written as to the availability of the actors and that is unfortunate. But do not change the essence of a character. Geet is so in love with Maan. I would have loved for her bravado as to saying dev is the father and I am pregnant to have been shown earlier. Now that Maan is not around for her not to care about his name and just blurt something so private out seems unacceptable to me.
Second: She is not lying because as far as Geet is concerned, Maan is the father! She wouldn't have been lying if she said that because, he knows she is pregnant and had accepted her child as his. Maan stood by her, saving her in-numerous times and for giving Dev any ownership of her baby I feel it is a huge disservice to maan. Maan and Geet are a couple and she does not have to stand for her rights alone, she has to stand with him by her side.
It would have taken more courage to keep the biological part from Dev and naintara! Giving Dev a role to play in her and Maan's baby's life already at this early stage doesn't sit well with me.
Thirdly: a big issue for me has been making Dev's character into a responsible and forgivable one. He as good as raped her and just because one feels remorse does not absolve him of the crime he committed. Is he able to return her money, her land, her jewelry, her family? Not only that now he also has a romance with meera! YUK again
Last: I don't like the story being all preachy..we don't need a lecture on the rights of women, tell the world all..we are not watching this to be taught a lesson..nor should a daily soap need to be a reflection of our society! This is fiction, romance and no one watches it to be taught about women's rights. The shows that make the woman leads all preachy fail miserably with a large section of their audience. in so many shows women are always shown with the best of intent, keeping things from their husbands, then solving issues all on their own like by magic. they know everything thats happening and do everything till the male lead becomes a side show.
geet has been different because the romance is hot, the lead is amazing and they could continue to be so if they worked on issues together. Please don't make Geet some kind of crusader for women's rights!!
And the main point i forgot: Maan never cared for what others think. He did not live according to society's wishes. Duniya waale to bolte rahenge..He made his own rules, HAAN!
