well technically u are supposed to remove it after the first year, some people like to keep it but i believe u are supposed to donate it once u have removed it. I looked up some info for u:

The bride wears the chooda for a minimum of 40 days to a year and as long as the bangles are on she is generally pampered as the new bride and not given and kitchen duties to perform. The day she enters the kitchen to work, she takes off her chooda and gifts them to a priest or to the local shrine.

The ceremony is known as 'barhaana' (move forward) in Punjabi. Its considered inauspicious to say 'utaarana' (remove). The 'barhaana' ceremony is generally not as elaborate as the one of wearing it. On an auspicious day ( generally the priest is asked for an appropriate date), the girl wears new clothes which are supposed to be given to her by her mother. A set of clothes is also gifted to the husband and mother in law by the girl's parents. An elder lady of the family puts 'gur' (jaggery) and ' chawal' (rice) in the girl's lap. These are supposed to be cooked and distributed to the relatives, the next day of the ceremony. Then the lady take off the bangles from the girl's wrists and replaces them with pink/red glass bangles and a gold bangle. Then 'waarna' ( a gesture in which some money is revolved around the head and given to a poor. This is meant to keep all bad omen away) is performed for the girl. The bangles are then covered with a piece of red cloth and either given to a priest in temple or they are made to flow in a river (' jal parwah')

Second, the minimum time to wear it is 40 days however you can wear it up to a year. If however you get pregnant within your first year, you can continue to wear the chooda till the birth of the baby. After that you remove it. So Neetu, Simi, and Anita can continue to wear the chooda for a while still.

by the way i know what A chooda is.. im not sure maybe in india they wear that long.. but in canada,. ive not seen anyone wearing it over a month...

I am in the US so I have seen people wear it for the minimum time but I have also seen women wear it for a few months or longer...i guess in the end its one's individual preference 😊
