I think most families want a bride who will get along with everyone, be respectful, but at the same time have a mouth to defend herself if necessary. At least, this is the type of attitude I've met with from my Desi friends. Their mothers and fathers want them to marry a girl who will be respectful to them, but at the same time they do not want a submissive girl who will not listen to every single thing they say. They want someone witty, intelligent, liberal, perhaps pretty, but at the same time has not lost the values and traditions of our culture. Kind of like a mix between the Indian and western cultures, taking the best from both and leaving off the bad.😊
