Me too 😭 .

Till a few years back, we had the cassettes of most of the Binaca Geet Mala, particularly the Annual hit list shows, which was of a longer duration.

times have changed a lot since then still ppl try to imitiate his style but cant do tht inface even i was a r.j. working with radio mirchi pune , tried his style once but had to drop the idea as in fm u need to be spontanious and they want you to be more natural and a lay man kind of style except few shows like "raat baaki" a show exclusive for gazals.rest all are same.

Thanks for posting this and the list of Top songs!!
Whenever we would watch Chhayageet, Chitrahaar n later Superhit Muqabla n Philips Top 10, my parents would always reminisce 'bout Binaca Geet Mala n how the anchors now were NOTHING compared to Ameen Sayani 😊 . I too heard him on Cibaca Geet Mala and his voice n style were truly great!

Great post giggles ji... Brings back memories.

Also, I somehow seem to remember that the year-end Binaca Geetmala used to be a 2-part "show". Anyone else remembers if that's correct?

The number one song used to be the "sartaaj" song and they used to put on some kind of a bugle before playing it...

I knew Sunil Dutt was an announcer in Radio Ceylon but had no idea that he was the host of Binaca Geetmala before Ameen Sayani...

For me, ever since I started listening to it, its been Ameen Sayani all the way...
