But no, because barely into monday, we had the new story in place and it exploded all over us with the glory of a messy bomb. Kesar was beaten, she lost her baby, Pratigya called the cops. We were launched into the middle of a debate - one with many perspectives, many views, many opinions.
Now, I'm sitting back and watching the writers of this show bring up a huge array of perspectives and opinions - each character in this show is bringing in a different point of view, one that shows gradations in the whole range.
Pratigya - her stand is clear: this was wrong, we must complain, protest or they will go on doing htis. It is an idealistic, brave stand. Is unhappy to see K's conflict. Can see his distress but believes it is time to act, that NOT to act would be a mistake. She's seeing the larger picture.
Krishna - thinks P is right basically but he is muddled by family loyalty, upbringing, his duty as a son. He also sees P as too idealistic. He complained today that she is applying theory to practice, seeing things in black and white without concern for the greys. He is upset with her for rocking the boat. "Itna sahi karne ki ka jaroorat hai?"
Kesar - doesn't want to be abused, but scared to follow through. She is unable to shake off the habit of fear. Swayed by threats, arguments and manipulation, but as of today, still holding on to her complaint!
Ghanti Dadi - angry but unable to do anything, but going by her expressions thinks that jail is the right place for Thakurain and Shakti. Soundless, wordless but a presence.
Komal - Knows her family is wrong but angry with Pratigya, defends 'how it has always been'. Can't see why it's suddenly a big deal now. She's telling Kesar to go by her own strength, that if she relies on someone else's strength of mind, she'll be neither here nor there.
Adarsh - supports Pratigya's stance, is consoling his wife for her anguish, basically ready to see how things pan out and basically ok with whatever happens as long as his sister is ok.
Nainaji - concerned only about her daughter's happiness, safety and good name
SSaxena - believes his daughter is right, supports her because he wants to stand for what he has taught
RED - hate pratigya but now really scared of her. See P as the reason for all this. She's the outsider who doesn't know how things are run in their society. Keep talking of maryada but don't explain why it is Kesar's responsiblity to ensure their maryada. Surely the best way to maintain izzat is not to hit the woman at all?😕
Naturally each person is right in their own way, right from their point of view. I think it's commendable that the writers are bringing in such arguments in what is a daily soap. Well done, guys, for making us think, making us feel 👏👏 and showing the various ways in which people do react to such situations.
