These stary-eyed 'idols' are on a song

Three finalists of Indian Idol Karunya, Sandeep and Anuj are in Ahmedabad for two-days to garner votes.

Ahmedabad, March 18: STARS in their eyes, they are celebrities (read Idols) in their own right. And they are here to enchant music-crazy Amdavadis with their 'food of love' (music, that is), who in turn will say... play on! The famous Indian Idol trio of Karunya, Sandeep and Anuj is in Ahmedabad as part of their two-day promotional round to garner votes. ''We have evolved over the past six months,'' says 19-year-old N C Karunya an Indian Idol finalist. ''Now we know how to handle audiences. Earlier, we used to sing for very small crowds, with Indian Idol we have been exposed to a wide variety of audiences,'' agrees Sandeep Acharya, another finalist. Yes, life's completely changed for us,'' says Anuj Sharma, the third finalist.

The three are going to rock Amdavadis at the Fun Republic on Sunday evening. As part of the round, these finalists will go around the city and will perform for audiences and collect votes for themselves. Music is their forte and multi-faceted their personality. While Hyderabad-based Karunya is a trained Carnatic musician and Kuchipudi dancer, Anuj has completed his masters in music. Sandeep has been learning classical music and has also acted in numerous plays. ''We just took a peek while travelling in the car and I think it is a very ethnic city,'' says Anuj has he takes a bite of the sumptuous lunch at Agashiye. Talking about reactions back home, ''We have been getting a lot of e-mails and sometimes when our friends call, they tell us how people in our hometown are crazy about us,'' explains Sandeep, who hails from Bikaner. ''We felt great when the album comprising songs of the 12 Indian Idol contestants was out,'' says Karunya. However, all three agree that the best part about the show was the bonding they formed during the contest. ''I cried like I had never cried before, we get so emotionally attached to each other,'' says Karunya. Reminiscing about some of the best moments during the shoot, Anuj says, ''The day when Will Smith came to our sets in Mumbai, he was just great. He mingled with us easily and it was really fun.'' And when music's being played studies can wait. Karunya who left his engineering midway to be part of the show says, ''This opportunity will never come again in my life. I can always go back to my studies again.''

Pragya, do u know by any chance wot Karu n Anuj are singing? We know about Sandy but would be interested to know about our Karu baby and just curious to know about Anuj.
