Fashionista Dr. Shilpa believes in looking prim and proper all the time. She exhumes oodles of confidence and comes across as a sophisticated, upmarket and modern girl.

Credit it to her fabulous dresses and adorable hair-do. She looks comfortable in everything she dons. Her mantra is to be comfortable in whatever she wears. After having donned dresses post her re-introduction, Shilpa comfortably transformed into a serious girl who means business. With her new look supporting her transformation well, she switched from dresses to salwar kameezes. And more recently she was seen in a traditional attire - lehenga for Dr. Riddhima's wedding. Her looks always blended perfectly well with the track and the show's demand. You favourite doctor discloses some of her best kept fashion secrets just for her fans.

What is fashion according to you?

Fashion to me is all about comfort and looking presentable. In the given scenario, fashion changes so frequently that it becomes a little difficult to follow the pace. And at times you might look outdated with your choice of comfortable clothes. So my mantra is be coomfortable and look pleasing.

Are you a make-up person?

Yes, I am. I like applying mascara and kajal. I apply nude lip gloss or a lipstick and blush on to complete the look.

What clothes are you comfortable in?

Jeans and T-shirts.

On an occasion, what do you prefer to slide into?

I like to wear nice, trendy and pretty dresses for occasions.

Are you an accessory person?

I am very fond of watches. I have a collection of around 10 watches from all the possible brands like RADO, Guess, etc.

One thing you feel incomplete without?

My handbag. I can't think of moving out of my house without my handbag. I carry a lot of things in my bag including my mobile and wallet so a handbag is must for me.

Who's your favourite designer?

I like Manish Malhotra's designs when it comes to Indian clothes. I also like to shop from Zaara, Espirit and Forever 21.

Are you a brand freak?

Not necessarily. I can shop from road side if I fancy a stuff. But when it comes to bags and shoes, I go for brands.

Do you dare to experiment when it comes to fashion and go against the trend?

Not too much. At times, I do go a little experimental when it comes to fashion and clothes.

What's you favourite shopping destination?

United States of America. As my family stays there so whenever I am free, I pack my bags and fly to the US. Malls there are flooded with varieties there and you get your size. They never run out of stock probably because of sparse population as compared to India. Also it's more convenient shopping there because malls are organised. They have all the possible brands of shoes under one roof making it easier for the buyer.

Who according to you is the best dressed celebrity at all occasions?

Kim Sharma is always well-dressed. She may not feature on the list of top Bollywood actresses but she definitely knows how to carry herself well. Another actor whose dressing style I really admire is Urmila Matondkar.

A fashion tip for your fans?

Feel comfortable in whatever you are wearing. If you are uncomfortable wearing a short skirt, it will show on your face and body language. And you will end up looking odd. If you are not confident wearing a particular dress, no matter if it happens to be the best dress on the planet, you will not look good. Also simple is nice. Overdoing is not good which even I used to do as a teenager.

Can you tell us a bit about your look on the show?

In my first innings on the show I was a salwar-kameez clad simpleton and my comeback look is completely different. I wear dresses as Dr. Shilpa. Earlier my hair was tied up into a ponytail but now they have let it down as my track has taken a romantic angle. And to show the impact, they have changed my look.

What's the best part of your look?

I would leave it to the audience to tell me the best part of my look.

A change you would like to see in your look?

I am happy with my look on the show and have just gone through a change – from ponytail to open hair. Let's see if there are more changes in the offing for Dr. Shilpa.

Early you had seen her in western wear, but lately she has donned an Indian look, with her amazing taste in salwar kameez and yet she has not lost the urban and progressive girl look. The overlapped salwar kameez is Shilpa's latest trade mark on the show. She carried off the lehenga that she wore for Riddhima's wedding with finesse. But the real reason for this transformation is because Riddhima is Shilpa's sister and she is trying to vie her back. But this has also brought a change in her persona; from the carefree person that she was, she has put on a serious persona.
