Yes Arien, exactly the same that your mom used to make. In Punjab side these are very popular.
They are supposed to be hot, but sometimes I crush them almost fine and put them in the regular daal.......the flavor is so so food and no one can even imagine that wadian are in it.😉
I did read about the jumbled up letters with the first and the last letters are correct.

I like trying out new recipes and dishes... I might have tried those wadiyaan but maybe found them too hot.... u know kiddos here, totally canadian, cannot handle even little bit of spice, I myself eat mild except for Pav-bhaaji......

Arien what are the ages of your kids?
My daughter only likes a handful of vegetarian Indian dishes and loves them hot and spicy. Even non-veg she will eat what ever I make. She eats with lots of yogurt.

Tulsey u mean vadiyaan-wadiyaan...Gujjus make them out of mung daal and spices...Sun dry them and use them with sabji eggplant etc...

7 yrs old son and 2 yrs old daughter.... son cannot handle even little bit of spice, daughter manages to eat little bit spice, I don't make too hot food stuff... but will try wadiyaan for a change...

Yes yes Varsha....I have not used them in eggplant....must be yummy.........okay for next time I will try it........

Arien, these kids need to be trained little by little mirchi.......give them yogurt and milk with food to calm their stomach. Otherwise, you will be cooking dishes for them and for yourself. I learned this trick from my SIL.
