Continuation from where we left them kissing.
They kissed passionately holding onto each other like a parched bird gulps water. After a long time, when both needed a breather, they broke away. This was the best moment of their lives. They felt their dream had come true – that nothing in this life was real except for this moment. Everything else seemed an illusion. Only this was the truth. Only this was real. But as reality dawned on Geet, tears welled up in her eyes. Maan noticed the sudden change in her emotions – from that of passion and love to that of guilt. She tried to push him away but he didn't budge. The fear of staying away from her rose in him and his eyes moistened too. She looked away and said,
Geet: Why have you come here? What do you want from me? I have nothing to give you. Please go away from here.
Maan: No Geet, I don't want anything, from you. I want you! I cannot live without you and you can't either. I can see that. See what you have done to yourself. You look so lean and tired. You haven't been taking care of yourself or eating well. It's not good for you, neither for our baby.
At this, Geet looked up to him with a startle. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. But she didn't want to raise her hopes. She asked him to leave, now very firmly. Maan was too emotional to leave. Instead, he fell on his knees, rested his head on her stomach and put his arms around her waist. He choked as he spoke, 'Geet, please mere saath aisa mat karo. Please ghar laut chalo. Ghar tumhare bina kaatne ko daudta hai. Tumhare bina sab adhoora hai. Main tumhare bina jee nahi sakta. Main tumse door nahi reh sakta. Aur main jaanta hoon tum bhi nahi reh sakti mere bina. Toh kyun tum hum teeno ko dukh de rahi ho – apne aap ko, mujhe aur humare aane wale bache ko?'
Geet's emotions overtook her determination as she put her arms around his head which was now resting on her waist. She couldn't stop her tears now. She started sobbing at this words. She said, 'Mere paas aur koi raasta nahi hai Maan. Aap jaante hain main wapas uss ghar mein nahi jaa sakti, jahaan...... Sab kuch badal gaya hai Maan.'
She was now stroking his hair with love.
Maan: Haan, sab kuch badal gaya hai. Jisko saza milni thi, mil chuki hai.
Geet: Mil chuki hai? Matlab?
Maan: Dev aur Naintara ghar chodke ja chuke hain. Woh wapas Canada chale gaye hain. Yeh baatein chupaye nahi chupti. Daadi ne Dev and Naintara ki baatein sun li thi. Daadi ko sab kuch pata hai. Maine unhe ghar se nikaal diya hai. Ab humara unse koi vaasta nahi. Jis wajah se tum humein chodke chali gayi thi, ab woh wajah hi nahi rahi. Daadi tumhe bohot yaad karti hai... (after a brief pause with a choked voice), aur main bhi.
Maan kissed her stomach and got up and cupped her face. It was then she realized how much he loves her and how difficult the past 2 months had been for him.
Geet: Par main is bacche ka bhoj aap pe nahi daal sakti.
Maan: Kya bacche kabhi bhi maa-baap pe bhoj hote hain kya? Main sirf itna jaanta hoon ki main tumse beintihaan pyaar karta hoon, tum meri ho and yeh baccha bhi mera hai. Iske aage main aur kuch nahi jaanna chahta.
He lifted her in his arms and carried her to the windowsill. He seated her there before sitting down near her feet. He rested his head in her lap. They sat there that way for a few minutes in silence.
He then said, 'Ghar lautein Geet. Daadima apne aane wale par-pote ka intezaar kar rahi hogi.'
He then got up to cook while she went into her room to pack. :-)
