This for the bride by the groom's family. Relatives and friends shower gifts and cash to the new bride as blessings. The bride and the groom touch the feet of all the elders keeping an handkerchief or token-amount of cash on their feet. The mother -in-law gives her 'Kangan' (gold bangles) in particular to the new bride

In the olden days, when a bride got married and came to her husband's house, she covered her face with a veil (ghoonghat). So no one really saw her face. 😳

After she was brought into the house the relatives and the neighbors were invited to a ceremony where they were shown the bride's face when her veil was lifted (mooh = face and dikhai = to show). It was kind of a big event where they saw the girl, she touched their feet, they gave her blessings and gifts and also fed her some sweets.

Now-a-days the custom is still alive and they kind of treat it like an event where the bride gets to meet all the relatives and neighbors. In many places this is a women-only event and menfolk get kicked out of the house during this event 😆 😆 😆
