SONY & FW - WHAT'S YOUR AIM?
I have a simple question for both SONY and FW - What's your aim as far as CID is concerned?
You guys seem pretty content with its 2.3 to 2.4 of Avg. TRP and that it consistently features in the top 20. What makes you think that this is a wonderful performance??? All of you seem to be just content that the show is running since 12+ years. How long are you going to live on the past glory? How long are you going to test the loyalty of your dedicated audience? Looking at the 2.4 TRP, everyone seems to think CID does not attention but this TRP is steady as the fans stick on, this adds more responsibility on your shoulders makes it even more important to give it special attention. But your aim just seems to be to fill those two hours of airtime with anything. Do YOU yourself sit through what you make us see?? We know everyone is working hard but at WHAT???
When are you going to get your act together so that the show runs for many many more years to come?? When will you aim at getting 3+ TRPs at an average and get the show in the TOP 10?? WHEN?
This year till date i.e. 22 August 2010, 49 cases have been aired, next Friday we will complete half century and we have just about 9 notable cases with just ONE CLASSIC so far. By CLASSIC I mean where story, screenplay, dialogs, performance, editing, background score, camerawork, etc, in short where everything is almost near perfect. In the order of being aired
29-Jan-2010 ACP Pradyuman Giraftaar
[Weak case, high on emotions, brilliant performances]
12-Feb-2010 Bank Locker Ka Rahasya
[Decent interesting case]
5-Mar-2010 Khoon Ki Holi
[CLASSIC]
19-Mar-2010 Sr. Inspector Abhijit
[Weak case, high on emotions, brilliant performances]
26-Mar-2010 Manali Murder
[Decent case, brilliant experience]
28-May-2010 Khatra Chemical Bomb Ka
[Best bi-weekly case so far]
11-Jun-2010 Abhijit In Coma
[Decent case, well coordinated investigation]
11-Jun-2010 Kissa Kidnapped Bacche Ka
[Decent interesting case]
14-Aug-2010 Desh Drohiyon Ke Viruddh CID[Decent case, brilliant experience]
Out of the 49 cases aired so far 16 cases were aired in the second half of the year and you have given us just one noteworthy case - Desh Drohiyon Ke Viruddh CID (aired 14-Aug-2010). Since everyone harps about TRPs, this year we have got a 3+ TRP only once for ACP Pradyuman Giraftaar (aired 29-Jan-2010) when CID featured at No. 9 in the overall ranking. This feat was achieved long back last year with Khooni Piracy Racket (aired 11-Sep-2009) when we featured at No. 8 in the overall ranking. This is a POOR, very POOR performance.
BI-WEEKLY itself may not be all that bad an idea but it's the TWO CASES PER WEEK is what has ruined everything. It's not like bad cases weren't aired earlier but the cast (original team) would cover up most of the loopholes with their performances. Due to this TWO CASES PER WEEK funda, new people have been added, original team members have got sidelined and shown totally out of characters in a disconnected investigation. You took away what covered your shortcomings in other departments, now all loopholes and shortcomings are glaringly visible.
If you want anything to improve, get deviating fans back, aim at higher TRPs and increase the overall ranking of this show, then you have to -
1] One Case Per week split into two with the old team
2] Decent Logical story with variety in crime and investigations
3] A well-made apt intriguing promo, decently publicized. Promos should never give away the mystery or the best scenes of the case. OTT promotion should be totally out.
Don't be content with an average of 2.4 TRP and featuring in the top 20 overall ranking. If your Goals are so shallow, there is no scope for improvement. We all want CID to run for more years and last us for our lifetime and it is all in YOUR hands.
