Time to carve Jammu and Ladakh away from Kashmir?

It would make sense to divide Jammu & Kashmir and carve out Jammu & Ladakh. They can be designated as union territories or full fledged statehood. When talk about Kashmir issue it is mistakenly understood as if the entire state of J&K shares the same sentiments. The only people who the pro-"azadi" mostly live in the Kashmir part of our J&K. Jammu and Ladakh harbour no such feelings. These two regions have always been complaining against "kashmir" hijacking the agenda of entire state. A single region has been dominating the agenda for the entire state. Current ongoing stoning campaign is occuring in only this region, there are no protests in Jammu or Ladakh.

Not to mention Jammu & Ladakh differ greatly from the Kashmir region, be it language or culture.

Why not carve Jammu & Ladakh away from Kashmir, and help them integrate completely into Indian union. This way we can also diminish the power of "separatists" in "Kashmir" and show to everyone that the actual Kashmir issue is limited to only this region.

Funny thing is that these separatist leaders still use security provided by the govt, not only that few months ago SAS Gilani was treated at AIIMS on tax payers money apparently.

Why should Jammu and Ladakh suffer because of Kashmir, they are more than willing to join the mainstream. They should be welcomed with open arms.

I do agree that Jammu doesn't get deserved attention and all dat it deserves because of the Kashmir. Because of Kashmir Jammu too is seen as troubled state but autonomy to Kashmir isn't a good idea at this point of time. If that is done at this time, then Azad Kashmir movement will get a boost and one fine day we would realize we have lost on Kashmir.

Separatists are hypocrites, when you ask them what will be Kashmir's fate after Azadi they have no answer. They are no less than terrorists. Just today I saw on news that one of the separatist leader (I forgot name) was appealing young Kashmiris to abandon studies and join azad movement whereas her own son was abroad for study purpose.

Jammu and Ladakh do face identity crisis but separating it from Kashmir at this point of time according to me will not work in favour of country as whole.

No, I don't think separating Jammu & Ladakh will boost to separatists. On the contrary it will expose the limitation of their "power", which in reality in only limited to Kashmir valley and surrounding areas. It will also let everyone know that Jammu & Kashmir != Kashmir alone, and that more than half population does not even live in "Kashmir". It will allow the people living in Jammu & Ladakh to join national mainstream and avoid being the part of "problem" that they do not want to be.
