Chapter 31: Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way

Heer smiled at the dessert in front of her. It was a strawberry cream layered white cake covered with shaved white chocolate curls and crushed almonds. "It looks so good," she said her eyes twinkling with eagerness to dig right in. Prem chuckled at her attitude causing her to look up.

"Chef Pierre's been trying to come up with a signature dessert for the hotel restaurant. He's made quiet a couple of really good desserts over the past week but he promises me this is the one," Prem said. "So I guess we'll see..."

Heer took a bite and beamed, "Mmmmm, Prem you have to put this on the menu. This is it."

"Wow, this is good," Prem smiled. "The staff is going have to take a taste too before a final decision is made but I think he's right...this is the one."

"Is there rum in this?" Heer asked.

"It tastes like it. Just very slightly...but it compliments well with rest of the cake," Prem replied.

"I really like how the cake is very light and not heavy at all," Heer gushed.

Prem glanced up and saw that her plate was completely cleaned. He was a bit taken back by how quickly she had demolished her slice. "Woah, that was fast."

Heer sheepishly grinned. "Well it was good." He inwardly grinned when he saw her secretly eyeing what was still left on his plate. He put down his fork and pushed his plate towards her. "It's okay Prem you finish it," Heer politely said.

"I know you want it," he answered. Heer shook her head trying to deny his offer. He smirked as he took his fork cutting into the fluffy dessert and held the bite in front of her. She debated for a few minutes before leaning forward to take it. Prem quickly moved the fork away and placed the bite into his mouth with a playful grin.

"Prem," Heer whined upset that she was tricked.

"Sorry, couldn't resist," he replied and then put down his fork. "Really you can have the rest."

Heer pouted but swiftly exchanged her empty plate with his half eaten one. Prem chuckled as she concentrated on devouring the slice. He reached over with his hand and playfully intertwined his fingers with her free hand; brushing his thumb across her soft skin. Heer played along with him; pulling and pushing her fingers against his. Prem gazed at Heer intently while she shyly smiled eating her dessert. Their romantic date was soon interrupted by the ringing of Prem's cell phone. Prem had an astonished look on his face not sure why someone was calling him. He glanced at his phone and furrowed his eyebrows. Heer watched him as he answered the phone. She wasn't quite sure what was being said but could tell from Prem's responses and slouched back that it was not good news. Prem sighed as he hung up the phone. "I'm sorry Heer but I've been called back to work. Something's come up and they want me to handle it."

"It's okay Prem. I understand. It must be something serious for them to call you back," she replied.

"I'll make it up to you," Prem offered.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me," Heer smiled giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "Well, we should probably get going then?"

As they got up from the table Prem quickly slipped his arms around Heer's waist and pulled her towards him. "There's one more surprise I didn't give you," he whispered into her ear. "Close your eyes." Heer obediently did what she was told and waited patiently. She could feel Prem remove his arms around her waist and walk away. She flexed her eyebrows and squeezed her eyelids fighting her curiosity to open her eyes as she waited to what seemed like hours wondering what Prem was doing. Prem stared at Heer gently smiling at her anticipating face. He reached into his inner jacket pocket and pulled out the ring that he had wanted to give to her since Christmas. He reached out to take her left hand but then paused realizing the issues that would occur if he slipped it on her ring finger. Prem gently held Heer's right hand and placed a kiss causing Heer to break out into a tiny smile. "Can I open my eyes?" she asked.

"Yes, you can," he replied.

Heer's eyes opened to see Prem holding a white gold banded Alexandrite ring (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f171/sushirice12/JuneRing.jpg). Her eyes widen at the gift, "Prem..." she gasped as he slipped it on her right ring finger.

"This was your Christmas gift. I was going to give this to you after I confessed my feelings when you came back from India...and well, you know how that kinda turned out. I've been carrying it around for awhile waiting for the right time to give it to you." he explained.

"It's beautiful Prem," she replied her voice quivering slightly.

He looked at her in alarm and gently wiped her tears away with his thumbs as he cupped her face. "Don't cry," he soothed.

"They won't stop," she replied. Prem continued to wipe her tears and then placed a kiss on her forehead. This caused Heer to hug him tightly as her fears of losing him suddenly crept up into her mind. She knew that she would soon be placed in a position to choose between being with him or losing him forever. Prem rubbed her back trying to calm her fears. He knew by the force of her hug and the way she was clinging onto him something had scared her. It wasn't hard to figure out what it was as the issue of her engagement loomed over their relationship every day.

Prem pulled back and caressed her cheek, "I'm with you now and I'm not going anywhere. So no more crying." Heer sniffled and nodded her head.

Preet shoveled the mixture of rice and paneer makhani into his mouth as if afraid that the buffet would soon run out of it before he could finish and come back for more. He glanced up and noticed Meher making circles with her fork on her plate. "Meher?" he asked with concern. "You don't like the food?"

"No, Preet," she wearily smiled. "The food's great."

"You're just now working on your second plate," he said. "I've already moved onto my fourth."

"I'm just eating slowly that's all. I actually had a pretty big lunch today so I'm still sort of full," she replied. "You enjoy your food."

He grinned and continued eating happily. "You know they have some really good gulab jamuns here. Save some room for that."

Meher nodded and went back to concentrating on her food. The truth was she had slightly lost her appetite. The food was delicious and the atmosphere of the restaurant was actually quite nice but Preet was so busy stuffing himself with food he was hardly paying attention to her. Her Valentine's Day date was turning into an eat as much as you can food fair instead of a romantic affair. She sighed slightly to herself but tried to remain civil about what was happening as she didn't want to cause a scene at the restaurant.

Ten plates later Preet patted his stomach and stretched with a smile. "Boy that was really good." He then looked curiously over at Meher who had only eaten two plates. "You weren't kidding when you said you had a big lunch. That's the least I've ever seen you eat at a buffet."

"Yeah," Meher curtly replied. "Are you finished?"

Preet blinked several times at her question. "You wanna go?" he asked.

Without a word Meher got up from her seat and started walking towards the door. Preet quickly followed behind her only stopping briefly to pay the bill at the front counter. He was slightly perplexed at the way Meher seemed so eager to get home. In the car Preet attempted to make conversation with her but was only met with short and curt replies. He was slowly coming to the realization that something was definitely bothering her. He parked the car in the driveway and quickly got out to open the car door for her but she was faster than him; Meher was already out and walking towards the front door of the townhouse. Preet gently grabbed her arm, "Meher?" He could visibly see the disappointment in her eyes as she turned around. "What's the matter?"

"Nothing's the matter Preet," she answered. "I'm sorry I'm not feeling well all of a sudden. I really just want to go to bed."

"Oh, okay," Preet replied not sure how to proceed from here. He didn't want to press her too much afraid that she would get even more upset. Preet leaned in to give her a goodbye hug only to have her ignore his gesture and turn away from him. He felt embarrassed that she hadn't seen what he was trying to do and rubbed the back of his head. Preet watched as Meher took out her keys and opened the front door. He stood there waiting for her to turn around but instead he was met with the slamming of the front door. Preet bit his lower lip, "Why do I have a feeling I screwed up somewhere?"

****************************************************************

Meher clenched her fists in frustration at what had just occurred. She was unaware that her sister was in her pajamas sitting in the living room watching TV. "So how was your date?" Heer asked when she saw Meher come in. But she quickly noticed her demeanor and worriedly probed, "Meher? Are you all right?"

"Of course I am; why wouldn't I be?" she suddenly snapped back.

Heer arched one eyebrow at her response and then frowned, "What happened?"

"Nothing happened...absolutely nothing happened," Meher vented. "Guess where he took me...just guess..."

"A restaurant?" Heer replied though she knew full well it really wasn't a question that Meher was wanting an answer to.

"A regular restaurant would have been nice...noooo, he took me to an All You Can Eat Buffet. For Valentine's Day, really? Can you imagine an All You Can Eat Buffet? And then he just ate and ate and ate...barely even talking to me."

"Well, he gave you some flowers...there quite pretty," Heer said pointing with her right hand as she noticed the bouquet Meher was holding.

Meher narrowed her eyes as she zoomed in on what was on her sister's finger. "Oh, My God!" Heer jumped at her sudden outburst and the glaring stare she was receiving. "He gave you a ring?!" Meher threw her hands up in the air in defeat, "This night just keeps getting better. I got a poorly dressed date, these flowers instead of red roses, an all you can eat buffet for dinner, no romance, and no Valentine's Day gift. And you got a saree, probably roses, maybe a teddy bear, definitely a romantic dinner, and on top of that a ring!"

Heer quickly hid her hand behind her back, "Meher, there's no ring." She squirmed trying to remove the ring from her fingers as Meher approached her.

"Oh really?" she replied sarcastically. "Then why are trying to remove it from behind your back?"

"What are you talking about?" Heer innocently replied.

Meher grabbed her sister's arm and pulled it from behind her back. "Then what's that shiny looking thing on your right ring finger?"

Heer sheepishly grinned, "Heh, oh this. It's nothing."

Meher grimaced and with a deeply sarcastic tone replied, "Riiight it's nothing. It's fake and he got it from the toy store."

"Meher, calm down. I told you not to over react and build your expectations about tonight. I never told Prem I wanted any of this nor did I expect him to do any of this for me. As for the ring it was a Christmas gift that Prem wanted to give me. And you know what happened those few weeks after we came back. Preet's a good guy you should feel lucky to have him in your life. You shouldn't need a holiday to celebrate being together. Everyday should be a day you cherish with the person you care about," Heer explained.

Meher sighed, "Why does this have to be so hard?"

Heer chuckled and gave her sister a sideways hug, "So you going to call up Preet and apologize for your sore attitude?"

"Why should I apologize? I didn't say anything to him about it," Meher answered with a frown.

Heer shook her head disapprovingly. "Meher..."

"I'm not apologizing for something I didn't do, Didi," Meher replied and headed towards her room.

Heer sighed and shook her head again at her sister's stubbornness.

Veera stood outside on the sidewalk of the Pleasantville train station waiting for her aunt to come back her up. She glanced to her side at Nihaal who had also gotten off at the same train stop. "You don't have to wait here with me. My aunt will be coming really soon," she said.

"I know but still it's late at night and even though this is a small town train station you shouldn't be standing alone by yourself here," Nihaal replied.

Veera went back to staring out into the parking lot scanning for her aunt's white Volvo. She smiled as the car came into view. When she opened the car door her aunt's face beamed, "Well hello there. Veera are you going to introduce me to your friend?" She turned around with a sour face wondering what Nihaal was doing.

"Hi, I'm Nihaal," he waved. "Just wanted to make sure she got to her ride."

"What a gentleman, that's very nice of you Nihaal," Veera's aunt beamed.

Veera sulked into her seat as Nihaal waved a friendly goodbye. "Goodnight. Have a safe drive home. And Happy Valentine's Day," he said to both of them before shutting the door.

Veera's aunt gave a sly glanced at Veera as she drove down the road. "What a nice young man. Should I be informing our father?"

"Neha Auntie, he's just the guy in charge of the designing contest I'm participating in," Veera quickly informed.

"Well, he seems very nice," Neha Auntie said. "Nowadays the boys are all bad boy types...they smoke and drink and do whatever they want...no respect at all. It's hard to find a good boy. You should snatch him up when you find one."

Veera gave a slightly disgusted look, "Him? No way."

"When are you going to take boys seriously?" she asked. "I know you're parents still think of you as a child but your 19 now. It's time to start thinking about your future because before you know it you will be 22 finished with school and looking for work. You'll need a life partner who can share your burdens with you. Now I'm not telling you to go and out and date every boy out there but I think you should start thinking about what you want in your husband and start looking for those qualities."

A thin frown formed on Veera's lips but she remained politely silent. The thought of marriage or any relationship for that matter was far from her mind. She was still young and wanted to have a chance to experience life on her own. When they finally made it home Veera said goodnight to her aunt and dragged herself to her room feeling exhausted from the activities of the day. After washing up and changing into her pajamas she threw herself onto the soft bed ready to drift off into dream land. She was brought out of the relax silence when her cell phone started ringing. Veera made a disgruntled sound as she glanced at the caller id. "What do you want? And why are you calling me this late at night?" she answered.

"Well, I am returning the voice message you left me," Nihaal replied. "I think that's a polite thing to do."

"I left that message this morning and it's now midnight and you're just now returning the call? That's really unprofessional of you Mr. Marketing Business man. And who returns calls at midnight? You do this to all your clients?" she grumpily informed.

"Hey, I'm a busy man. I get a lot of voice messages. But I knew you were still up so that's why I called you back. It would be highly unprofessional of me to not return your call at all. And to answer your questions everything will be detailed out on the website. And actually I have to thank you for asking the question because it completely slipped my mind about the postmark dates and everything," Nihaal replied.

"You're welcome," Veera replied sleepily.

Nihaal gave a slight chuckle, "Goodnight," and hung up the phone.

Preet paced uncontrollably in the lobby of the hotel waiting for his brother. He sighed heavily as he stopped at one end of the lobby and then turned around to walk to the other end. "What's up, Preet?" Prem greeted when he saw his brother. "What's this important thing you needed to talk to me about?"

"I think I messed up with Meher," Preet answered with a frazzled expression.

Prem arched one eyebrow, "Messed up? How?"

"Can we talk in the office?" Preet requested.

His brother nodded and they both went back to the office. Prem then silently listened to Preet's recollection of his date. Prem inhaled sharply, "Woah, that's pretty bad."

"Really it was that bad?" Preet asked.

"You basically ignored her and didn't give her a romantic date," Prem answered.

"But I took her out to a restaurant that I knew she liked. It's the place we normally went to...why did she all of a sudden not want to eat there?" Preet innocently asked.

"Preet, its Valentine's Day you have to make her feel special. You took her to a place you always go to. You could have surprised her by taking her out to another restaurant." Prem said.

"I don't have the money that you have, bro. You got Heer a saree, a limousine, teddy bear, roses...the full works." Preet complained.

"It isn't about the money. You could have done something simple like cooking dinner for her or doing a picnic in the park somewhere. Instead you took her to a restaurant very similar to what you normally do and then proceed to pig out in front of instead of actually talking to her," Prem said.

"Why is there so much work involved for us guys on Valentine's Day? It's so unfair. Why do we have to plan everything?" Preet huffed.

"Mr. I'm the Man with the Plan is complaining about planning? Are you running out of ideas?" Prem teased.

"Hey, I've got plans but when it comes to this relationship stuff I'm still new. I can't always get it right all the time." Preet defended. "And by the way since when the heck did you get all romantic? Are you reading women magazines to get these ideas?"

His brother shook his head, "No, I don't read women magazines," then shrugging his shoulders, "Don't know...things like this just come naturally to me, I guess? I'm sure you'll get better at this as time moves on."

Preet filed his hand through his hair, "So, how do I make this right again?" Prem put his arm around his shoulder in a brotherly manner and smiled. Preet silently listened nodding his head as Prem laid out a simple plan for him to follow. At the end of it Preet broke out into a grin, "Thanks PB. You're a life saver."

*************************************************

Meher looked through the peep hole to check who was disturbing them so late at night. Her eyebrows flexed as she saw Preet standing outside in the cold. As mad as she was about the night's date she still opened the door to see what he wanted.

"Hi," Preet waved. "Sorry for coming over so late. But I really need to talk to you."

"It's late Preet. Can we talk about this tomorrow?" Meher asked.

"Please Meher?" he slightly pleaded. "I know tonight probably didn't turn out the way you expected. At least allow me the opportunity to correct some things."

Meher stood there unsure if she should accept the chance or push it off until tomorrow. She sighed, "Fine, but let me go change first and I'll come back down."

Preet grinned as he walked into the townhouse, "Thanks Meher."

Meher swiftly went upstairs and changed into a pair of jeans and a pullover hoodie sweater. She then went to her sister's room to tell her what was happening. "Preet's come back and wants to talk. I'm going back out with him. I'm not sure what time we may come home. Maybe in an hour?"

Heer glanced up from her book that she was reading and checked the clock. It was 11:00pm. "Okay, that's fine. If you are getting any later than 2:00am give me a call." Meher nodded and then exited the room. Heer smiled happy that Meher was going to go talk with Preet and sort the issue out. She knew all too well the consequences of not talking about something that was bothering you could lead to. As she returned to her novel her eyes caught the shiny glint of the Alexandrite ring that Prem had given her. She grinned giddily at it as her mind filtered back to her romantic dinner date with Prem.

***********************************************************

Prem slouched into the driver seat feeling the weariness in his body. As he undid his red tie a faint smile spread across his lips and a recollection of a memory began to play through his mind. He had just parked the car in the driveway of the Maan's townhouse and was about to get out and open the door for Heer when she reached over and tugged at his tie. He had given her a questioning look while she playfully pouted at him as she inched her face closer to his. "Are you really going to go to work with this still on?" she had asked.

"My tie? What's wrong with my tie?" he had replied with confusion.

"Nothing's wrong with your tie," she had answered.

His face had then broken into a thoughtful ponder coming to an intriguing conclusion. "My shirt?" he ventured. At this point he had inched closer to her; his lips brushing delicately across hers. "I don't mind giving it to you but I don't think I it would be very professional of me to show up to work with just my tie and undershirt."

Heer pulled back giggling at his suggestion. She then leaned over again causing him to anticipate a kiss. He had closed his eyes waiting for it but when it never occurred he cracked one eye open to see her holding the red note he had stuck in his chest pocket. "Kiss me?" she had replied. It had amazed him how the words rolled effortless off her tongue. He flexed his eyes and gave his signature intense stare and smiled inwardly knowing only too well how it affected her. He watched as her breathing became shallower and her cheeks slowly turned to a pinkish glow. He moved in closing the distance between them but the kiss had ended shorter than he had wanted as he felt her gently pushing him away. "That's not what I meant. You where about to go to work with this still on," she had said her voice thick with disapproval.

A thin grin had spread across his face, "You don't seriously think anyone would have taken up on that offer?" He was then surprised by her reaction as she tightened his tie around his neck causing him to slightly choke. "You shouldn't make things easy for other people to try, especially since you are looking extremely handsome tonight." He chuckled at her possessiveness. Despite the violent nature of her reaction it made him feel good that she wanted him to know she wasn't going to tolerate anyone trying to take him away.

"I think instead of a stamp on my forehead I should probably invest in a tattoo maybe on my forearm 'Hands Off, Belongs to Heer Maan'," he had playfully replied.

"Should I than get one that says 'Prem Juneja is Mine'?" she had suggested.

"No, 'Belongs to Prem Juneja'," he had corrected. She giggled and leaned closer to him giving him a tender and loving kiss.

Prem was brought out his thoughts as a pair of bright headlights flashed into his rear-view mirror announcing the entrance of a vehicle into the hotel parking lot. Prem blinked a few times adjusting his eyes to the sudden shock of light that had come. He then sighed happily as he looked down at the red tie in his hands and the precious memories it held.

Heer yawned sleepily and closed the novel she had been reading. She glanced at the clock; it was 1:00am. Heer dragged herself out of bed and went to the bathroom. She had just finished brushing her teeth when she heard a strange tapping noise coming from one of her bedroom windows. Heer poked her head cautiously out of the bathroom and intently listened for the ta-pa-tap-tap sound to occur again. After what seemed like a few minutes of silence her body relaxed from its tense posture and she went back to getting ready for bed. Then suddenly the ta-pa-tap-tap sound announced itself again. Heer looked around her worriedly as she was the only one in the household. She searched the room for something to protect herself with and only found her flat iron. Heer grabbed it and held it up like a baseball bat as she tip-topped her way to the window by her desk where the sound seemed to be coming from. She took a deep breath and stood directly in front of the window ready to meet who or what was making the tapping noise. Her eyes widen at her discovery and she quickly opened her window. "Prem? What are you doing down there?" He was half way up the tree outside her window in the cold without his winter jacket on.

Prem dropped the remaining pebbles he had stuffed in his suit jacket and smiled warmly as he rubbed his one arm with his free hand, "T-took yu-you long en-enough," he shivered. " Wh-why are you holding the fl-flat iron?"

"I thought you were a burglar," Heer explained. She then berated, "Prem, where's your winter jacket? Are you crazy...it's so cold out there. You're going to catch a cold."

"I ddd-ddidn't th-th-think it w-would take you so l-l-long," he stuttered.

Heer frowned shaking her head, "I'll go open the back door for you." Prem heaved heavily and pulled himself up to the next tree limb and climbed over to the big thick branch next to her window. He slid into the room with a triumphant grin. Heer quickly closed the window and then turned towards him with a disapproving look. "What do you think you're doing wondering around in the cold without your jacket? You're suit jacket isn't warm enough and on top of that you went and climbed up a tree?" She turned him around inspecting his clothing. "Suits aren't made for climbing. You're lucky you didn't ruin your clothes."

Prem just slyly grinned and rub his hands on his arms. "I thought I surprise you," he simply answered.

"By climbing a tree? You could have knocked on the front door," she replied.

"I thought I be a little more creative this time," he smirked.

"Prem, its late you should go home," Heer ordered.

"I just got here and I'm cold," he replied and wrapped his arms around her. "I'm feeling much warmer now."

"Prem," she warned.

"I know we have the whole house to ourselves. So, don't give me the excuse that Meher is here. Who do you think gave Preet the idea to go take her out and talk to her?" Prem said.

"Oooh, now I see. This was your idea all along, huh?" Heer asked.

"Well, not exactly. I did have a talk with Preet about his Valentine's Day fiasco. I was actually on my way home but decided to stop by here because I missed you," he sweetly explained. "And just to let you know I parked on the next street over so they won't know I'm even here," he continued his eyes lighting up with mischief.

Heer couldn't help but giggle at his last comment. "Well, Mr. Juneja I guess you can stay for a little bit," she relented. She rubbed his back with her hands trying to spread the warmth around his body. "You're still a little cold." Prem stepped back and took of his shoes and suit jacket. "Where are you going?" Heer asked.

"I'm going to make some hot chocolate. You got hot chocolate, right?" Prem replied as he held the bedroom door open.

"Yes, we do," Heer answered and followed him downstairs to the kitchen.

*****************************************************

Preet pulled his car onto a secluded hill top just on the outskirts of the city. Meher glanced at him questioningly. He gave her a reassuring smile, "It's the best spot to see the stars at night." Preet got out of the car and opened the back of the trunk to pull out two large blankets. He spread one on the ground and then handled the other to Meher. "It's a bit chillier than normal tonight, isn't it?" he said trying to make conversation.

"Yeah," Meher mechanically replied.

Before slamming the trunk shut Preet took out a large silver thermos and motioned for Meher to take a seat on the blanket. She obediently did as instructed and then gently tilted her head up to the night sky. She inwardly gasped at the sight before her; thousands of twinkling stars blanketing the dark sky. Preet glanced over at Meher's face the wonderment etched so brightly that it give her a childish aura around her. He loved how her hair was lightly pulled back into a ponytail; allowing the beautiful features of her face to be shown. Her chubby cheeks and button nose were starting to turn a pinky red. Preet took the blanket from Meher's hand and wrapped it around her. She glanced at him and motioned him to sit closer to her so she could wrap the blanket around both of them.

Preet felt a tiny shiver down his spine as Meher leaned against him to wrap the blanket around them. She huddled closely with him to keep the warmth from disappearing underneath the blanket. Their proximity was causing his heart to race and a nervousness was spreading throughout his body. "It's so beautiful out here, Preet," Meher said finally speaking a full sentence. "The stars are so bright tonight."

He grinned, "They really are."

"What's in the thermos?" Meher asked.

"Oh, it's some hot chocolate," Preet replied. "You want some?" Preet reach out from the warm comfort of the blanket and brought the container into the fold. He carefully poured a cup for Meher and smiled as she took a sip.

"Thank you. It's really good," she said. "But, wait don't you want a cup?"

Preet timidly grinned, "I forgot the extra cup. But don't worry you drink it."

Meher held the cup in front of him, "We'll share."

He grinned happily, "Thanks Meher," and took a sip enjoying the chocolaty beverage.

"I know how you love hot chocolate," she said. Meher then gave a solemn frown causing Preet to look at her worriedly.

"What's the matter?" Preet asked.

"I'm really sorry for the way I acted tonight," Meher apologized. "You did a lot for me and I wasn't appreciating it."

Preet gently shook his head, "No, I should be the one apologizing. I underestimated how much Valentine's Day meant to you. I'm sorry, Meher. I should have paid more attention to you."

They both shyly smiled at each other glad that they had aired out their feelings. Meher glanced back up at the sky taking in the beautiful sight that nature had bestowed. Her eyes suddenly lit up in astonishment and she quickly grabbed Preet's hand, "It's a shooting star!" She closed her eyes tightly and made a wish. When she opened them again Meher realized she was still tightly holding onto Preet's hand. She looked down and saw Preet gazing at her. Her eyes gently fell into his gaze. Preet swallowed nervously as he slowly but steadily inched his face closer to hers. They both awkwardly closed their eyes and had their first kiss. It was brief but sweet as they both turned away embarrassed at what had just occurred.

"Wow," Preet whispered his cheeks glowing.

Meher gently bit her lower lip and was surprised to taste the hot chocolate that had been transferred from the contact. She nervously glanced back at Preet who did the same. They both turned away shyly not sure what to do next. "Meher..." Preet spoke suddenly causing her to turn back around. Their eyes locked again but this time neither of them turned away. Meher felt Preet's gentle lips against hers. Her stomach was doing flips but the nervous jitters were soon replaced by an unknown hunger. She wasn't quite sure who had initiated it but the taste of chocolate was slowly being interwined into the mix as Meher felt Preet's tongue dance against hers. Eventually the kissing ended and they both pulled back satisfied. Preet put his arm around her shoulder and whispered, "Happy Valentine's Day Meher."

She smiled and leaned against him, "Happy Valentine's Day Preet." They both then quietly looked up at the night sky as a peaceful calm over took their hearts. It was at this moment Meher realized and finally understood what her sister had been trying to tell her. She thought to herself that if the day had to be repeated she wouldn't fix a thing; she wouldn't have it any other way.

Pre-Cap:

Chapter 32: Reunion

Heer awakes in the morning to find herself in an interesting position forcing Meher and Preet to jump to conclusions.

What exactly has loverboy Prem done this time?

What craziness ensues?

And who is it that is causing me to name this chapter Reunion?

Stay tuned for the answers to be reveled on Wednesday!

*****************************************************

Okay, I admit that my pre-cap sounds like some ridiculously cheesy TV promo 😆

And I know I wrote Prem to be almost too romantic...over the top with his plan but I can't help it...hehe 😛...he was pretty romantic in Kis Desh so it seemed right...plus every girl dreams of something like that 😳 so that was for all the dreamers out there 😃

But we girls should be a bit more practical when it comes to this type of stuff...not everyone is super romantic...its more important to cherish the time you have with the person then to always expect grand gestures of love...everyone has their own way of doing it...even the simplest or smallest things can mean just as much as the big gestures. Okay enough of the life advice...lol...see you guys next Wednesday!

Leave Comments as I wrote a Super Long Chapter 😃

loved the update! I specially like the way Nihaal & Veera are getting along...so different from what happened in the show and I totally agree with your advice on expectations...and Preet's line about Valentine's day being high-ticket job for guys...

Looking forward to the next chapter but I hope the reunion doesn't have to do with Heer's fiance or Balraaj and Teji coming to Canada...that would be such a spoiler! 😒 poor Premeer will have to be overly careful...anyway, continue soon 😃
