Well'.after much waiting'the Dance Sequence showcased by Dr. Shilpa Malhotra (Shilpa Anand)'graced our TV/Laptop/Computer stands today and I must say that the sequence did not fail to impress'.Not forgetting to mention there were flaws but inspite of it the whole Sequence the package definitely stood out beautiful and ultimately that's what matters'.
Detailing:
The Costume-The costume was very elegant and Shilpa flaunted it perfectly'.and the white with silver sequence kurti and churis definitely enhanced Shilpa's Beauty in the song'.
The Set and Lighting-Was just Brilliant'.It created a beautiful ambience which made the whole look of the song one note above all the sequences aired so far in DMG'..The Lighting which was neither too bright nor too white 'somewhere in between surely created a magic of its own for the whole sequence'.
The Music- The Music was just about average'.It looked a bit messed up here and there'..There were wow moments in the music and there were dull moments too'..Certain part where beautifully done most of which coordinated well with the pain and torture the Character of Shilpa was going through'.At one point the music sounded exactly like that of Dance of Envy from the Movie DTPH'.Highlights in the Music was the start and the end parts which was tastefully done'.
The Choreography-It was 85% Brilliant and 15% just about Ok'.The way the whole thing took off was nice except for the shot where the Ghungroo is being pushed towards Shilpa'.I mean it definitely looked Fake'.when no one was there around how can it be pushed towards her'.That was a wrong move instead if it was shown her taking it and then tying it, it would look more original'.Anyways coming back'.The stances and Postures Used in the start were Brilliant'.and Kudos to that'.And more importantly Shilpa (The Actor) did them with much wanted grace poise and perfection'. Postures like that of Natraj etc were well executed
But when the Dance too off in the Kathak Part of it'.'.Her Mudras were not steady'..In Kathak technically if your hands are not stiff and steady along with being graceful at the same time'..The Beauty of the Dance gets Halved'..and that happened here too'.
The rounding with back lying on the floor was a true Master Piece'..
The swirls were good and the fall(On Armaan) was beautiful'..Coz when she fell'her toes were pointed and she was standing at an angle'.Had Armaan moved from there instead of standing rock steady like he actually did'..Shilpa would have landed on the floor'..that's why I said the angle with which she kept her body was exceptionally graceful and beautiful'..
The Performer-Shilpa Anand'..Take a bow Shilpa you did a Fantastic Job'..Her expressions of hurt, pain mixed with anger/aggression everything was well portrayed'.there were2-3 places where she had no expressions at all and was totally Blank'.usually when you have no expression it spoils the beauty of the dance'.but in this case it actually looked good coz it showed the Void all the Happenings in her life had left in her'.Great Job By SA
I wish the choreographer would have concentrated more on the Mudras like they did on her postures and stances'..But keeping all this in mind the Dance was for sure a Visual Treat'the Hype Created definitely did not go unworthy'.
