Real & Reel - Where to draw the line?

This topic is exact about what the title says - Where exactly should one draw the line between real and reel?

This topic is in reference to what I saw on Facebook a few days ago and what I keep on witnessing on websites like I-F. There are hate groups for characters, no doubt, but in those hate groups I also see people crossing the line. For example...this one group called "sada hua aam sid ko ar raaste se hatao" has people bashing Sid left, right, and center BUT...WHY do they need to bring Karan Wahi in? There are sick and pathetic comments like "why doesnt KW just die" or "kw shud go dieeeeee".

I mean, WTH. Seriously now? Is a fictional (key word) so important to some fans that they are wishing death for a REAL life person? What's KW's fault of AR got separated? He's doing his job - enacting the role of Sid Modi and is doing a darn good job on it as well, in my opinion. I guess if a fan says "sid should die", it makes more sense since Sid is a fictional character but KW is a real human being. What has he done to people?

While some seem to take their hate for a character too far, others take their love for them too far. I see people around here not caring if they get hurt in the process of daydreaming about their favorite character. Yeah, a member PM'd me a topic yesterday in which someone didn't care she was bleeding b/c it reminded her of Armaan. I bet some of you know what I'm referring to but I'm glad I didn't see that topic in detail. But all this made me think, "whoaaa that person must me psychotic and seriously people like these need help...that too ASAP."

I'm not preaching anything, but instead, I'm just asking a question - where exactly should a line be drawn between reel and reality?
I've got my share of favorite celebs and reel characters but never i would I take my admiration for them too far. Same thing goes for celebs/characters I happen to dislike.

Before people start jumping on me, lemme just say that I'm typing about whatever I've seen. If there are comments like these made for any other actor, then this question applies to them as well.

There is a sensible way to approach any situation. Unfortunately, we sometimes forget that. Karan Wahi is a wonderful actor, the whole bashing thing is beyond me. And you're absolutely right about where to draw the line... Good question, seems like everyone has their own individual answer😊

Cheers,

Very well said. I wonder what do people have against Karan Wahi - just because he potrayed the character of Sid so well and made the character human - some had to bash him....
Ask the question to oneself: WOULD I LIKE IT IF SOMEONE STRANGER ABUSED ME ON THE ROAD???

being a fan is good but crossing the line is pitiful!

šŸ‘ agree with what you've said i have a few actors and characters i really admire and like, Armaan & Sid included
if you are shedding a few tears for your fav character- fine, that's understood. I will say that I've cried for Armaan before. I cry a bucket load of tears watching SRK's movies, but that's just sympathising with a character. Not giving it so much importance that it rules your lifešŸ˜•
but shedding blood, and all those PATHETIC (understatement) hate mails and msgs etc are disgusting and beyond my understanding.
i am glad that i got to comment before the post gets closed
because im expecting people to come and drop sh*t in your intelligent topic
i hate that some sensible topics like yours always end up getting closed and unheard
love the point your trying to get across hunšŸ‘šŸ¼

First thing's first, when you begin to damage your own body for a fictional character and not value your own life, then you should know you need help, and that too ASAP. Not only is such behavior a danger to one's own self, but I'd say that person is a danger and a negative influence to others as well that come in contact with them on a day to day basis.

With what you have pointed out for Karan Wahi and Siddhanth is unfortunate but it will keep on continuing till the damned show is on air. It's saddening to know that mature woman indulge in such acts (you'd think immature teens only do), and then they promote such behaviors to the young ones out there. I am not familiar with social networks related to DMG's actors, and I'd like to keep it that way too. Karan Wahi is someone I do admire, and I display it on India Forums, Karan Singh Grover is someone I detest as a person and I show it on here as well. There's no use of taking my like and dislike on FB, MSN, or anywhere else for that matter. At times I like Sid, at times I loathe him...most of the times I abhor Armaan and once in a blue moon I do appreciate him.

I am too self centered to pay attention to these stars much because I simply love myself and I do know the significance of life. At the end of the day, I'd not give a second look to the actors if I saw them walking around the block. I appreciate some of them and my relation with them ends right there, and I think that keeps me in tact with the real and reel world.

I don't know where the line should be drawn, but damn if you want Wahi to leave the world and wish death upon him or slit your wrists for a repulsive fictional pair... then all Imma say is God bless you and get well soon.

I'm totally with you. I understand that were all passionate people and have gathered here because we absolutely love the show, actors, characters etc but there is a limit to all things and I've seen it been crossed here and on youtube videos. It disturbs me to see comments wishing death upon people or calling someone a *sorry for my language* hoe/bitch/whore/skank/slut etc.

First of all someone who wishes death upon another person seriously needs to take a look at themselves and question what type of a person they are and whether their parents would be proud of their words (because I'm sure that my own parents would K.O me if they saw me type/say I want someone dead). Like you said if you want the character to disappear then fine but to actually want the actor/actress to disappear is just plain disturbing.
Also the use of hoe etc I've read comments like that relating to Jenny/Ridhima. The words used are foul as it is but to refer to the actress as that is disgusting, people need to look up these terms in the dictionary before attaching it to someone. Both the character and actress shouldn't even be mentioned alongside words like that.
That topic about bleeding, I saw the title and stayed away from it because I thought it was weird. That's really sad to think that being in pain is a good thing !!! Self-harming yourself is just plain wrong and I really do hope that someone will reach out to the person before things get out of hand.

As for the line, I personally feel you yourself should know what is right and what is wrong. For me personally I don't like certain celebs so I tend to stay away from anything that is related to them and as for celebs I do admire/adore I read about them and discuss their work etc but that's it.

people are lauging their heads out while they are bleeding what else can you expect from them, they are so indulge with these fictional characters that they forget the sense of being real human and humanity.

I always used to wonder about those fanatic fans who write with their blood and used to think thats an exaggeration but it seems its not an urban legend, these people exists and that too in 21st century, I am not sure if they even will curse their family memebers for AR 🄱.

more than reality check they need medical help. they are getting violent for no good reason

MAY LOGIC PREVAIL!

Agreed, especially on the part where these people are a negative influence on the people around them. They're willing to harm themselves over FICTIONAL characters and are openly wishing for an actor's death without any remorse. How sickening. You're lucky that you didn't come through those posts about KW because they were really disgusting. From what I can see, people take these shows and their characters TOO seriously.

Omg yes, Youtube is the worst of all. The comments on there are really written by some psychos I think. When I happen to watch CMG on YT sometimes, I read some comments and people go out of their limits when bashing an actor, specifically KW.

KW has done nothing to u all other than playing a character call Sid whom this character of his happened to married another non real character in a crappy show call Dil Mil Gaye, so why wish another human being like u death over show stupid show.
