Every time I watch Thoda hai.... I am reminded of my years in Mumbai ..

atlast a serial where a middle class family is shown as truly middle class.. we dont have bahus who are walking like a christmas tree or traipsing through the house on their five inch stilettos.. nor do we have a saas who is loaded with jewellery.

Their thinking, their way of talking .. everything is so real.

heres wishing you guys all success ..

Cheers

Hey!
Welcome to the forum yaar!
I agree about the realistic aspect of the show. It makes me so nostalgic to watch this show. We have real characters - ones I feel I can reach out and touch. Everything the family does and every situation they go through is recognizable to me. It's normal! The mom dressing in a simple cotton sari and the bahus in plain saris is so refreshing. Lack of caked on make up, designer saris and gawdy jewelery is something I really appreciate.
Even the presence of MCPs and childish "I know what's right" men is acceptable because that's how most men are back home. Maybe not the newer urban generation but definitely the somewhat older rural generation so to speak.
*sigh*
This show makes me so nostalgic! 😆

Agree totally with you..probably the newer generation wont appreciate it so much... but to me its become one of my favorite shows ... I mean I watch it at 7.30 ( otherwise it goes on into recording and I watch later )!!!

the concept of coming and giving your salary to your mom/dad..... is it prevalent with the younger generation today ? I dont know ...

cheers

yes, this is a show that we can relate to. The other shows (KEKTA MAI) are just so ridiculous! Or sometimes they start off as being "normal" but then they just go off on a tangent.
This is a show that I can finally relate to.

I don't know about India, but here in the US I've seen a lot of kids help out their parents financially. I believe it's got to do more with experience and mental maturity than it doesn with "current times". Kids in their early 20s have managed to provide for their family and share the house hold bills here. So I don't know believe that it can be blamed on the current times - it might be an individual nurturing thing.. 🤔

LMAO! Kekta soaps are supposed to be provide an "escape" from reality - albeit twisted. But you're right - they are nothing to be watched by people looking for sensible/realistic entertainment..

I wish all this 'realism' would translate into some TRPs this show so deserves. Hope the show makers keep the essence of the show intact that attracted all of us to watch this and not sacrifice it for the TRPs game.😔
