Problem with Sreeram's O re Piya

I managed to download most of Sreeram's performances in MP3 format over the weekend. Listened to them a few times already and I guess will do many more times in the future.
Something struck me about his O re piya song (the first time I heard this song was when he performed in II). So, I went and heard the original song on youtube, the version without any visual distractions (barring the great MD's picture with a beautiful landscape in the background). That helped me focus on the song and not get distracted.
Two things popped up:
First thing, Sreeram's version was fantastic and flawless. He matched the great RFK in the range and Sree's voice texture added a slightly different feel to the song.
Second and the most important, the thing that struck me is that the lyrics of the song doesn't suit the mood of the song at all!!
I was not paying much attention to lyrics earlier, but once I heard properly I realised that the lyrics actually are very uplifting and the mood of the music was leaning more towards that of a sad song. It is how RFK sang the song too! The composition is beautiful but it doesn't match the lyrics. Strange!!! The problem is with either the composer or the lyricist depending on who you want to blame for this mix up.
Ofcourse, sunidhi is totally way off the mark when she said "ek cheez bahut buri tarah se missing hai - feeling". Maybe she is not sentient enough (how can someone say buri tarah se),!! Salim tried to cover up for her by saying thoda feeling ki kami thi (if he had gone first, he wouldn't even have said that after all it was sung beautifully for a live performance). Sunidhi and her feelings, I can never get my head around it, nor my heart!! Wahan kuch tho daal mein kala hai!

Actually he sang "O re piya" in slower tempo and used landings as in original tempo which resulted in some incompleteness throughout. There is no "less feel", its only different feel.

IMO judges should be given option for postponing the judgement incase they cannot able to justify themselves in the given time. Late judgement is always better than bad judgement.

Exactly, he chose the slower tempo and it did sound incomplete though it was superb in some portions. The thing that annoys/frustrates/irritates the hell out of me is , " give some constructive feedback for God's sake". You are supposed to be technically competent judges. Ask the contestant to sing differently, faster tempo etc rather than judge like a moron. I mean even I can go and say things like ,"sur hile the, feel kam tha, pyar bhara hua tha".

I recently started watching Chhote Ustad and I cannot believe the relief I felt to watch a drama free judging panel which offers constructive criticism.

OMG!!
First of all the trademark of this performance are some little longer Murkhiaan....Now its a very tough thing 2 manage...an extremely tough thing,,because one has 2 manage the tempo as well as the beat cycle and breathing places...We cud see Aadh Chaal being performed at many stages....
What Rahat Saab has sung...this is called proper control over Taal...Effortlessly playing with Layam and Taal...Although Nusrat Saab cud manage all this way better than Rahat Saab.

And now coming to the Sargam..
Well managing this kind of sargam is not an easy task...
Just listen and pay attention how the Sargam is linked with the beats and Gattein of the Tabla and dholak...The Sargam was great....
The original's sargam is quite simple as compared 2 dis one...

Now I wud like 2 hear ur opinion....

@sushrutha .. My point exactly, singing this song live is not easy and sreeram had done a fantastic job considering excessive usage of gamakas in this song.
