Word had been around that Vivek Oberoi's parents were scouting for a bride for him. Their search, it seems, has ended in Bangalore. The 34-year-old actor, who hasn't exactly been lucky in love, will settle down with Priyanka Alva, 28, sources say.

Priyanka is the daughter of well-known danseuse Nandini Alva and late Janata Dal (U) leader Jeevaraj Alva. Vivek will finally change his single status in the first week of September, with his engagement to Priyanka, who has studied in London. The wedding, sources add, is slated for October.

The match was apparently arranged with help from Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer Padmini Ravi, a close friend and relative of Nandini. The grapevine has it that Nandini played matchmaker. However, Padmini said, "It wouldn't be fair on my part to comment on this."

Sources say that the bride-to-be's "level-headed and intelligent." "She's non-filmi, sociable and sweet-natured," they say. Vivek had earlier said in an interview that he wouldn't mind marrying a girl of his parents' choice.

The actor was engaged to model Gurpreet in 2002. The relationship didn't work, neither did his supposed fling with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Vivek was then linked to many co-stars including Neeru Bajwa and Vidya Balan. The Alva family refused to comment for reasons of privacy, and Vivek was unavailable. Probably, he's busy as he's in good company.

Actor Viveik Oberoi has decided to tie to the knot with a Bengaluru girl — Priyanka Alva, the daughter of danseuse Nandini Alva and JD (U) leader late Jeevaraj Alva.
"I believe in destiny and my daughter's courtship has come as God's gift to all of us," exclaims an ecstatic Nandini Alva. "The families had a discussion, their horoscopes matched perfectly and then we let the children take it forward. The marriage dates were fixed three days ago and I am very happy that Priyanka and Viveik are extremely happy with each other," she adds.
Having spent her entire student life overseas, Priyanka is currently working in the NGO, Artistes Foundation for Arts, established by her family and helps her mother run many orphanages as well. "Viveik and Priyanka share a great passion for social work. That is their best connect," says mother Nandini, adding "Priyan-ka completed her education in New York, where her subjects dealt with non-profit organisations and social work. She is very pleased with the fact that Viveik also shares the same passion, having contributed and worked towards aiding several social issues."
Viveik Oberoi, 34, was earlier engaged to former girlfriend Gurpreet in 2002, which was called off almost immediately. Viveik was then dating actress Aishwarya Rai for two years, which saw a bitter end. The actor's parents were since then on the lookout for the perfect bride for their son.
Sources say that the courtship was arranged with help from Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer Padmini Ravi, who is a close friend of Nandini Alva. The duo are the trustees of Artistes Foundation for Arts. They are also the co-founders of Bengaluru's yearly festival of art and culture — The Bengaluru Habba. Priyanka, who has completed her education in London, has worked closely with her mother on most of the cultural festivals and has also helped her with the launch of their salons — M&W at Leela and Taj Westend.
Priyanka's friends are overjoyed. "I am very happy for her, but would not like to say anything more. This is something special and a personal matter between her family and close friends," says Namrata Sudhindra.
Though the news was not revealed to most friends, family friends are not complaining. "This marriage has come as a blessing from all our well-wishers and friends. Though this is an arranged marriage, my daughter is very happy," says Nandini, adding "This is a very special occasion and we at the family are rejoicing," she concludes.
