I know govt. earns a lot in taxes from that gutkha stuff but I'd still like to see it being banned. People spitting that red goo everywhere and painting everything red looks so horrible.

Eeh, my dad was a chain smoker once, whenever I used to ask him as to why was it written on the packet "Smoking is injurious to health" and still being sold, he always told me the govt. earns a lot of money out of this considering it's high on taxes, vats and everything and that is why, no license needed, I assume! 😆

Could be one way of keeping India's bludgeoning population under control .🤢
Cigarettes , bidis, gutkas all have been proved to be cause of cancer - oral cancer being the commonest ca in India. Lung cancer is not far behind. Both have poor survival rates .

😆 good question, deepak!

May be because govt. does not want the GDP numbers to go down by making these things a bit harder to obtain through licensing😆

Or, who knows this is one of the most effective way to check population growth😆

I don't think it is just India. Not all countries require tobacco licenses. Even in USA, not all states require tobacco licenses.

The only logic I can guess on is that alcohol can put people in alternate state of mind, tobacco does not. Alcohol can cause fights, obnoxious behavior, sexual advances etc - which tobacco does not. Hence the serving of alcohol is more restricted.

I personally am against smoking. It is the worst thing you can do to yourself. Illnesses caused due to smoking are most painful and often lethal. However, governments still continue to allow tobacco products.

Since people are addicted. Tobacco products are the best way for governments to collect taxes. Limiting Tobacco in public places and increasing taxes create such a furore, imagine trying to actually ban tobacco after all these years. Finally self harm is a choice (But then why not legalize other drugs - although I say legalize em all and tax the heck out of it. On another note marijuana is proven to be less addictive, less lethal and safer than tobacco - yet its illegal go figure).

Personally, I say - Thank You for Smoking. It is not as if smokers are naive and do not know consequences. It is not as if they do not receive messages that show how dangerous tobacco is and yet get on the habit. All smokers know it is bad for them and do it anyways. As long as the smoke is not in my face - go on have another cigarette. Thank you for being a weak minded fool providing government with a nice and easy way to tax your stupidity. I wish you get really addicted so that they can tax you more and more and maybe get some nicer things for our communities. Hopefully, you smoke enough that you die soon enough and we do not have to pay your pension, social security or medicare expenses.

As for the spitting etc. That is downright disgusting. How about a shoot at sight order to cops for anyone shooting red out of their mouths. Public sanity bhi resolved, population crisis mei bhi kaam aayega.
