Nihira Joshi,Hrishikesh Ranade,Bela Shind

While I was going through my list of "Favorites" I cam across this site which was discussing Nihira Joshi when she appeared in SRGMP back in 2003. She was the best even at that time but did not win because of stupid judgement of Mr arrogant Jagjit Singh. You may me interested in reading the reactions from different people.

Another excellent singer with the same talent and caliber as the top contestents in SRGMP challenge 2005 was Hrishikesh Ranade. He was also the winner of another SRGMP contest. I thought he would be a big star one day. I do not know what happened to him. Yet another big winner was Bela Shinde (Sonu Nigam Time) who was judged by more than a dazon of the most talanted musicians in the music industry. She gave really super performance episode after episode. I am not sure what happened to her either.

Anybody has any idea about Hrishikesh or Bela?

Hrishikesh Ranade and Bela Shende do a lot of shows especially Marathi musical shows in cities like Pune,Nasik etc;We also see them many times on Marathi channels singing light music etc;Recently I saw a program paying tribute to Late Pt.Jitendra Abhisheki in which Hrishikesh was one of the singers along with other talented Marathi classical singers.
But they haven't been really able to make it big in the Hindi Film Industry .....well its industry's loss I guess.....coz those two are really talented people and I wish them all the best....

They definitely deserve a fair chance in Hindi film industry. I see Bela's name in songs here and there but nothing big. She was in Bunty & Bubli in a group song. Hrishikesh is such an excellent singer but has not been given any chance at all. And yet, I notice that many mediocre singers have been given chance. You wonder , why? If they have been performing on the stage all over, why are they not being noticed by these big music directors? They are definitely much superior singers than what we have seen in II and Gurukul.

Even though I am from a Hindi speaking state, I appreciate and promote good music and good singers no matter where they are from. I guess you are right that today it is the glamour which sells.

By the way, the song Bela has participated in is from Paheli, not Bunti & Bubli. Sorry about that. At least MM Kreem has noticed Bela's talent and has given her a little chance.

Thanks for update, I really enjoyed reading it. I have been Hrishikesh's fan ever since he was on saregamapa.
