Chapter 37

Vicky and Nargis left for the airport at around midnight. They stopped over at Barista for a coffee to have while they waited for Nargis' guest to arrive.

Vicky had not asked who was coming. He assumed it to be a family member or a relative. Nargis in her excitement had forgotten to tell Vicky about Nupur, she had thoughts of tornado hitting the Delhi airport in just about 15 minutes.

She looked at her watch to see the time and then suddenly heard some commotion ahead of her in the arrival lobby. A woman was running with a boy behind her trying to catch up. Nargis shook her head. Here comes trouble she thought. Ye larki kabhi nahi sudhregi. She will always do something to cause major upheaval anywhere she went.

Vicky had also seen the person making a dash for the door and the boy may be of about ten trying to catch up. People, who were mostly sleepy after a flight were slowly trudging out of the terminal and here was this crazy woman playing what Catch with a kid? Who did this? About to dismiss her when he saw her waving her arms wildly at them, he looked at her and then Nargis, who had a wide grin on her face and Vicky turned to look at the tall girl running towards them.

The woman instead of stopping in front of them, launched herself on Nargis, who expecting this, just held her ground, but the arms that were wide took a swipe at Vicky's shoulders and his steps faltered backwards and almost fell, before he got his balance back. What the'.Vicky started when the woman in question shifted her attention from Nargis, looked at him and launched herself at him and said'JeeejuuuuDddduuudee! And gave him a bear hug. Vicky's breath came out in a whoosh at this attack. He steadied himself and the woman; stepped back a few steps surveying himself and then her. Nargis was laughing out loud by now. She realized she should have warned Vicky.

Just then, the boy caught up with her and stood next to her and said, Shit! You win and then gave her a toy that the airline must have given him to play with. The woman, then got down on her knees in front of the kid, gave back the toy and opened her bag to give him instead a huge bag of chocolates. Just as he was taking it, his parents came with her trolley with them and said, No No don't do that, he has enough chocolates to last him a lifetime. Thank you so much for distracting him for us. He can be a handful and then handed over her bag they had brought with them.

The parents were having a harrowing time through out the flight and this woman had kept the boy distracted the whole flight and as they had waited for the bags near her, the boy had become even more cranky. Nupur had then offered to distract him by taking a race with him to the gate after immigration and handed over her bag which had thankfully arrived already to them to be brought and that is how the whole episode had happened. Nargis had been smiling as the parents had recounted the episode to her and then waved their byes after extracting a promise to visit the kid and exchanged phone numbers.

Nupur just shrugged at Nargis and said La! C'est Moi! In her fake French accent at which nargis closed her eyes and shook her head. She said, Behave child! I am sure its all the pent up energy of being bound in a confined space. Nupur always like opens spaces and long flights always had this effect on her. She had to vent it out else she would probably go crazy.

Vicky looked at Nargis and Nupur alternatingly and cocked his eyebrow up to Nargis. nargis then introduced Nupur. Nupur meet Vicky, my friend, Vicky meet Nupur, she is my childhood friend and yes as you can see, she is nuts. Beware, this is nothing, she will be worse after a good night's rest.

Vicky smirked, Beware! I am stumped, What is she? Whirlwind? My ,Zeno, you two are childhood friends, one Zeno and other Eddy, what a combination. Nargis knew, Vicky had just given a name to Nupur, God help her.

Nupur looked at Vicky and then Nargis pointing at her, Zeno, as in philosopher of Stoicism, rich, I like that. Nice name Vicky. Then remembering her manners she said, sorry about the earlier commotion, not looking sorry at all, I mean the bear hug and all, looking hard not to laugh, but her eyes gave her away; Vicky took the hand she had offered and winked. Apology accepted, but you are free to do so anytime. Nargis, shoved an elbow in him and hissed, don't!

Vicky with an injured look said, Ow! I am just being friendly, you didn't have to hit me. Nargis puts her hands up in the air and says, That's it! Pehle ek tha, ab do do nautankion ko jhelna padega. Both Nupur and Vicky formed an instant rapport and gave eachother a high five, laughing. Nupur said, philhaal to tu nautanki kar rahi hai saali! Give me a hug! And both friends hugged each other as Vicky looked on and found a new facet to Nargis. Nupur and she seem to be very thick, he thought and smiled.

Vicky then broke up the happy party and took Nupur's bag and they all went towards the parking lot. Vicky silently drove as both girls chattered non stop. Vicky was amused to see nargis talk so much. Usually, it was him who did all the talking but Nupur and she seemed to have a lot to catch up it seemed. Tuning himself out of their conversation, he wondered on what Nupur had called him. Jeejudude! Interesting. He could get used to being called that he smiled to himself.

Once they reached Nargis' home, he quickly dropped the bag and took their leave with a reminder to not forget tomorrow's lunch at home and the Thakka ceremony.

Nargis nodded and walked Vicky to the door. Once outside, Vicky gathered her in his arms and gave her a very long and passionate kiss that left both of them breathless. He ran a finger down her cheek, winked and said, Dream of me! And left.

Nargis came in smiling and found Nupur with folded hands, tapping her feet on the floor and asking, Kya chal raha tha?

Kuch nahi said Nargis, Jaa naha le, mein khana garam karti hoon! And walked to the kitchen.

Yeh Nupur ki bacchi...as always...ek AANDHI ki tarah aayi hain....and has instantly hit it off with her Jijudude!! I am glad....I want Nupur and Vicky to like each other, they both mean the world to me!! Ab...Nupur apni jasoosi pe utar aayegi....Haila.....muje bachalo!!!😕😛
