Chapter 2:
'Hey Samira, good morning!', exclaimed Pratigya and dadi1 found her 2nd prey. 'ab ye lo, subah-2 fone se chipak gai, are tum ladkio ko aur koi kaam nahi hai kya?'.
Samira had heard dadi's voice but she knew that the old lady was not bad at heart so she didn't mind!
Pratigya : sorry yar
Samira: no probs yar. I just had to call you, I've such great news! Will you meet me at 10 at McDonalds?
Pratigya : Sure! Shall I come at your home instead?
Samira: No!! not at home, no way!
Pratigya : oh ok, don't worry, I'll be there at 10..
Pratigya hung up and wondered what the matter could be! Dadi1's voice brought her back to reality, 'are, ab nashta to kar lo, sab thanda ho raha hai beti'. Pratigya told the rest that she needed to meet Samira at McD and thus Naina asked her to get ready instead of helping her in the household chores…
Pratigya hurried up so that Aadarsh could drop her on his way to office! She chose her black n white collared salwar suit, wore her small earrings, black heeled sandals, took her purse and was ready. She never liked wearing makeup and taking much time to get ready. She had short hair so just brushed them and ran when Aarushi bumped into her, 'didi, hume bhi le chaliye na. ghar mein baithe baithe bore ho rae hain, cable bhi band pada hai, kahi dadi ne pakad lia to pata nahi kya kaam pakda dengi', but before Pratigya could help her out, dadi called out to Aarushi to go and help Naina in drying out the clothes! Aarushi made a face and stamped out… Pratigya giggled at Aarushi's plight.
Naina was busy confirming tht the Prof had taken his wallet, helmet etc., asking Aadarsh to drive his bike slowly and more so since he was taking Pratigya with him and then proceeded to instruct Pratigya to be careful and come home soon. Dadi1 inspected Pratigya's dress, but didn't find anything to comment upon!
Pratigya had always wanted to wear jeans t-shirt like her other friends but dadi1 had burst out like a volcano the day when Pratigya had dared to ask the shopkeeper to show her some t-shirts! Dadi1 didn't even think twice before scolding her in public for being shameless, Naina somehow pacified dadi1, Pratigya felt very humiliated and could not understand how it would hurt someone if she wore a dress that she was comfortable in! She was glad tht Aarushi was not there with them coz Aarushi could never hear anything against her sis and dadi1 would have heard some real answers.
Prof left on his scooter, Aadarsh and Pratigya on Aadarsh's bike, Naina bid them goodbye and went inside the house… Aarushi was hanging the clothes on the terrace while remembering scenes from the movie 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', Salman was her favorite and she wished a guy like him to whisk her away and keep her in luxury where she didn't have to do any work but be there with her love!
Aadarsh dropped Pratigya at Treasure Island. McD was at the 1st floor of TI and on the way she again spotted shops with modern elegant dresses, evening gowns. She kept gazing at them, imagining herself in those dresses, enjoying her life as she wanted. A particular black gown caught her attention. She started walking in a daze when suddenly bumped into someone! She would have landed hard on the floor but her fall was interrupted and she found herself in the arms of a sturdy man. Soft black eyes looked into hers and for once Pratigya lost her senses! She had seen similar scenes in movies but could never understand why the girl used to forget time and space in such a situation but now Pratigya was herself in the arms of the stranger and she just couldn't pull out of the gaze!
