I only have a vague idea about Knightley from all I've heard of Emma so I don't really know of that in context of Aisha but I'm loving the characterization of Arjun as they've shown it so far in the promos/synopsis....Abhay looks perfect in this role.

Yes Anu - Mr Knightley, I now feel, has never gotten his due recognition as one of the most amazing fictional heroes like say Mr Darcy or others of that class did. I am not comparing the characters or calling one less than the other or anything , for they are different and each unique in their own ways (and I love them both equally) but I am just talking of the status which Mr Knightley truly deserves as one of the greatest fictional character of all-time like the others. If you read the book, you will see that Mr Knightley defines chivalry, a trait very often considered as something which every girl wants in her man, in the truest sense of meaning; he is the TRUE knight in shining armor for he defends the honor of the woman he loves in a manner that leaves a very lasting impression on your heart.......just read the book I don't want to spoil to for you 😆. Any sensible girl would undoubtedly not be able to stop herself from falling in love with someone like him, in fact he is such an elegant,mature,charming,sensible and respect commanding character that even ones with lesser sense/maturity cannot be helped but by taken in by his persona as you will discover if you read the book; I can almost say that his aura radiates through the book, as silly as it may sound 😆!

@Mash: I am thinking that I too, should view it out of the original Emma context- I would be MAJORLY, MAJORLY disappointed if the classic is compromised upon in any way and especially if, Mr Knightley's character is tampered with , I will never be able to bear with that. So yes, I too hope that it is only loosely based on Emma and not completely inspired by the classic as such but what I would certainly want to see in Aisha is that respect which Emma gives Mr Knightley and the manner in which she regards him so highly despite their disagreements in the book - I would want Aisha to have the same sort of respect for Arjun's character in the movie as well because that respect and regard forms the foundation of the love story.

And yes, I think I am able to make out Mr Elton,Harriet and even Frank Churchill from the promos- Aisha refers to some "NRI Anita" in the promo I saw, I am wondering if that is Jane Fairfax or Mrs. Elton. I am mainly looking forward to see who plays Mrs Weston and if the character gets due importance in the movie.

On a different note, when I try to physically picture Mr Knightley , I can only think of Hugh Jackman 😳.

LOL@ the courage to endure the new Twilight flick....haha....arey use chhodo....I'm more excited about KEKTA version of Twilight....THAT'S where the fun's at, my friend😉😆....and I do watch SGP....I LOVE that show, man....it's my fav. daily soap in like ages....the only sensible daily soap on air with amazing characterizations and portrayal of relationships....yeah I figured all the viewers of the original Bengali version must be watching this too😆

LOL Kavya....well in my case, I'm not like this die hard Jane Austen fan who takes all her books and characters as the word of law or reveres them THAT much also but yes I've always heard great things about all these famous characters.....Darcy may be very famous but again cuz maybe he's become a prototype in many ways for various characters over the ages in movies and books. I guess Knightely is probably not as easy a character to emulate in movies/books cuz the storyline and character traits of Emma are not so general as that of P&P for example which seem more easily adaptable into stories.

As for Aisha, I seriously can't tell you much about how much of a direct Emma adaptation it is....Mash and Mels would know better I guess but to me it's looking like more Clueless than Emma and I'm fine with that....lol....
