Definately a scene for Armaan to first hand hear Ridz confession to her hubby about her feelings and her moving on, and wanting to be together and she is a wife, she is now proud to be Sid's wife

I think in a way it was better Armaan heard this like this, only coz it seems reality and much more impactful coz he witness first hand what Ridz was saying and doing, a big step for her to Sid

The flashbacks of the hug was def for the audience not Ridz remembering any of it, and her hand grip slowly releasing when she instantly knew she made a mistake

Not only that i think in a way it helped Armaan to finally see it, and finally accept it from his heart, because he really hadnt in a way - he is so sure now that Ridz has opened her heart to Sid

And also the great thing is that Ridz didnt feel guilty on what she said, but the mistake she did, and hurted Armaan unknownly, which wasnt the intention at all, and the fact that he still hadnt moved on fully from the heart

I think her not walking out and asking Armaan proved that, and also her actions yesterday with Sid, and dinner date, we saw that she hasnt taken a step back as well but is really moved on and moving on, and addressing herself as Mrs Modi and a wife, these little actions shows us her love for Sid

Sid was good in the scene with AR, he made a situation abit lighter and not more tense, and he acknowledged both, one as his wife and one as his friend and the guy he calls big bro, Sid acted in a moment and i have to say not alot ppl would have done what Sid did, that is make the atmosphere little lighter, and accept that AR were together in a room and yes he told Armaan they moved in together, which Armaan has a right to know which is what Armaan wanted all along etc

So I leave with this, yeah the hug was hard to watch. Not only because the words that were spoken before it and the action itself were meant for Sid and he never got to hear or see it. Or because it was experienced by the ex. But because in the process Armaan got a reality check. He was forced to face the reality that Ridz had already moved on. It was also hard because what should have been a wonderful, touching moment of moving forward got turned into facing the past and closing the door to it forever. You see that's how real life differs from movies. Unfortunately, unlike the movies you cannot run away from your past nor can you leave it without a final closure. Sure Ridz had closed the doors to past both to her mind and her heart a long time ago. And sure at the basketball court Armaan shut the door to his past in his mind, but his heart hadn't quite shut it's door. So after today Armaan had no choice but to shut that door forever. As for Sid, by not seeing what Ridz had to say or receiving her hug he lost the opportunity to know what truly lies in his wife's heart. But you know what, Sid and Ridz have just begun their journey and sure by missing out in this moment their acknowledgment of each other's feelings got delayed, but they have time. And with this time their true emotions will be revealed to each other, the when, where and how aren't as important as the fact that it will happen when the time is right for them.

Armaan needed a reality check coz he was still thinking of Riddhima while looking at that comic but now when he heard all those words from Riddhima he definitely will remove & get out of all the memories of Riddhima from his mind & heart coz now he knows that Riddhima has moved on & there is no point in wooing her.

So Definitely it was a Reality check for Armaan & perhaps he also realized Siddhima's Unconditional love towards each other.

Well for Sid & Riddhima they soon will confront their feelings to each other.

I second all of your thoughts, 👏

That scene was necessary not so much for SR, but for the resolution to AR. I have always maintained that the day that Riddhima started having doubts about her loyalties towards Armaan, their relationship was no longer possible as lovers. The scene in question here was a way for Armaan to realize that Riddhima's doubts and whatever dim hopes his heart may have nurtured are confirmed in favour of a wife finally accepting her husband. You're absolutely right, this was the first time that he woman not only acknowledged herself as his "wife," but she closed that distance, the one that had left a hole in her existence post-Armaan, by walking up and embracing the man whom she has realized she is destined to be with. Her slow realization of this man being Armaan, is prompted by memories that she is awkward with (note her expressions). To her, Armaan is no longer the man she loves, but nevertheless an irreplaceable and special part of her past, which she will forever cherish. This is obvious in the way that she asks him if he has moved on, indicating that it is indeed time... and yes, her reproaching Sid for his aloofness regarding the situation is understood because it placed Armaan in a difficult angle. Nonetheless, Armaan is a beautiful character with immense potential. I am sure he will arise from the ashes as a fresh and stronger person, best!

Very true a complete reality check and this was for Armaan to move ahead as Ridz has done it and saying those words which were meant for Sid was making it clear for Armaan to know what Ridz is doing with the heart she has opened npw for Sid !!!
