- The first prospective bride really had no faults: her story seemed a bit like Sushma's in terms of being married to a drunk, and pulling out after night 1 when she found out, and refusing to submit to the drunken dulha. How is that her fault? Surely, the Sharmas would like someone in future to accept Sushma? This girl seemed way better than Sushma. Padma rejecting this girl, who was otherwise perfect, was completely hollow. Of course, needless to say, Padma doesn't have a clue about the Golden Rule.
- The second prospect sounded like Jyoti, just as the first one sounded like Sushma: her husband turned her out. I can understand Jyoti walking out of the room. But again, wouldn't the Sharmas like Jyoti too to re-marry, if she got divorced? And unlike Jyoti and Sushma, neither of the first 2 girls were ever pregnant, or else that too would have been mentioned.
- The third prospect was marginally older than Deepu. Okay, that may be considered legitimate, but for Padma to reject her b'cos another guy associated his name w/ hers, defaming her in the process, was heights. After all, that was precisely what Brij did to Jyoti in the eyes of the Vashisths.
Methinks this would have gone better had Deepu, KK, Jyoti and Sushma been there, and Dadi and Padma been left out of the selection process. Imagine a Sushma being rejected by a Padma in this process, where the Sushma in question is not the beti, but the would-be bahu.
If Deepu doesn't get Panchi, he should be open to accepting someone like this, considering that he too would probably want Jyoti & Sushma to get a do-over. Not that that should be the overriding criteria.
