Shah Rukh Khan's alarming 'loss'

Mumbai: Actor Shah Rukh Khan is rapidly losing weight. But it's not his health — it's his prosthetics make-up technique that's responsible for this sudden loss. Shah Rukh has to keep his make-up on and wear a specially-designed suit for his forthcoming movie Ra.1 for at least 8-10 hours daily during which he cannot eat or drink.
A source says, "Once on, Shah Rukh Khan can't take the make-up off throughout the day. It's so delicate that any form of pressure would damage it. If that happens then Shah Rukh would have to go through the exhaustive process of make-up again to perfect it.
Thus, his movements have become restricted. He can neither eat nor drink for all these hours and this is affecting his body. He cannot even go to the loo. He wants to go through the shoot nonetheless."
The source adds, "Shah Rukh might have lost at least 4-5 kilos during these days of shooting but he has consulted his doctors and the situation has not yet reached an alarming level."
However, dietician Jyoti Lalwani says for a 44-year-old man such weight loss is alarming.
"Sudden weight loss is not a good sign for anyone. The weight loss is not because he is losing fat but because he is losing his muscles and once that happens it's difficult to get it back without intensive workout sessions again. Having calorie pills even if he can't eat or drink is very good for health. Thick liquid diet will also be good but one cannot have such long gaps between meals or water intake."
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh's friend and physio Dr Ali Irani says, "He has chalked out everything before plunging into this project. Knowing SRK he will get back his muscles and weight as soon as he finishes shooting. He is someone who is extremely conscious about his health."
