New details of Yash Raj TV shows on Sony TV

With the exception of 'Rishta.com', all other Yash Raj Films TV shows have ceased broadcasting on Sony Entertainment Television Asia.

However, information from TellyChakkar have indicated further details of the possible new shows starting on Sony TV later this year from the production giant.

The two new shows are titled 'Duty Bound', which is expected to go live in October and 'Bhagya' in December.

According to sources at TellyChakkar, "The production house is being extremely careful about the marketing strategies for their shows. This time, they are planning to launch their shows at regular intervals and not collectively like they did earlier. Also, they are planning to launch their first show Duty Bound this October followed by Bhagya in December."

The source adds, "Bhagya, is a story based on one of the novels by Jeffery Archer. Rahul Bagga, who played the character of Mahendra Ranade in Powder and Viraf Patel, who starred in Mahi Way will play the leads. The rest of the star cast includes Khalida Khan and Rasika Duggal, who too acted in Powder."

Ajay Balwankar, the programming head for Sony TV, confirmed the news saying, "Yes, we are associated with Yash Raj Films for their new shows that shall be launched this year. However, for now it's too early to reveal anything more than this."

The third show is slated to be launched in February 2011. This contradicts earlier speculation that the channel was planning to launch a slew of new shows from Yash Raj Films in July.

"The production house is being extremely careful about the marketing strategies for their shows..."

Certainly when pigs fly. Because this channel and production house have already shown their astounding lack of promotional skills and it won't be any different in the future.

Emm.....I think you people are confused...!
The article merely states that all the shows have ceased airing ,except Rishta.com...Coz Rishta ended today !!
It doesnt say anything about a season 2....
But I realllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy hope there is a Season 2 !! Plzzz YRF !!

That wouldn't be correct then, because Powder's last episode is supposed to air on Thursday - a day after Rishta.com's. Which means that Rishta.com will have a season otherwise they would have mentioned Powder as an exception too!

LOL the PH doesn't seem to have any say on Sony about how to promote their shows....so I'd put the blame solely on Sony here....I doubt YRF would have backed off from promoting their shows and giving them crap timeslots like they did with R.com.....so I blame Sony and Sony only....THEY are the losers who don't even understand the abc of how to market a show properly.

Heck, this is not any PH, this is YRF and it's not like they are at Sony's mercy! I read people complaining about YRF promotions around Bolly Forum as well, re: RNBDJ and Dil Bole Haddipa. I always fail to understand why they would put so much money into these shows and then not do enough to promote them. They could have promoted outside of Sony, with events and radio, etc. If R.com does come back, I hope there's some serious negotiation about the timing, repeats and promos.

There is a world of a difference b/w the way these ppl promote their TV shows and their movies.....DBH and RNBDJ still got a HECK of lot of promotion....I remember seeing them like EVERYWHERE when the movies were about to release....TV is different I think....Sony is PAYING them to broadcast the shows on their channel I think....maybe that makes them have more say in how to market them or whatever....and let's face it....YRF is still new to the TV game....I doubt they understand how to utilize shows like SBS/SBB for promotion or whatever as the rest of the TV shows do.....maybe they'll learn in the future....who knows....either way, R.com was TERRIBLY shortchanged.....MUCH more so than the other shows like Seven and MW which had a kiddie fan following.
