It is shocking to see a film that was hyped with such high expectations fizzle out only after 1 week. It is really sad. But, a bad film cannot sustain anyway. If the film has a bad plot and story, then it will not last in the theatres. Personally, I thought Raavan was decent and not spectacular. It is still a lot better than most of the crap that has come out in 2010. Mani will always be a director to be reckoned with. You cannot write him off after only one failure.
I don't think Raavan was a mistake on Aish's part from a career standpoint. She still got to enact a strong female character and won some acclaim from critics (even internationally). Regardless, the failure of a film is not blamed on the heroine. The hero and director are always blamed anyway.
Aish is such a smart businesswoman. She has balanced her films well in 2010, a good mix of commercial and meaningful cinema. Robot and Action Replay are full-blown commercial films, and still have the potential to do extremely well at the box office. Rajnikanth and Akshay are still top box office stars.
I know Guzaarish is kind of risky right now, but at least Aish has attempted to do another challenging role in meaningful cinema. We all know SLB brings out the best in her. Playing a nurse to a paraplegic patient is not a everyday role. This role is deglam and I am sure Aish will get huge acclaim for it. I am looking forward to this movie!!!!! My #1 awaited film of 2010.
