the story?

i just started watching this show today because of the song sequence and now i started watching it from the part where geet gets the job in the office and etc. I'm really confused. Why did she leave her own home? Why doesn't Maan like her?

Geet is married off to an NRI by her parents without checking up on the guy's family. The guy, named Dev, cheats Geet. He was already married to a girl named Naintara. (They were the other couple that were in the dance sequence in a diff. room). Dev and Naintara needed money to pay off their debts. They were kicked out of their house in India by Dev's older brother, Maan, because Dev did something bad (unknown to the audience). So in order to get some money fast...he marries Geet (it was Naintara's idea). The plan was to marry her and then leave for Canada the next day. They were going to leave Geet at the airport. Everything goes according to plan except Dev had a hidden agenda. He spends the night with Geet. Geet is devastated when she finds out that she has been lied to and cheated. She goes back home to her family. Her family and her find out that she is parents. Her family tries to force her to have an abortion...oltherwise, it will taint their family honor (which is EXTREMELY important to them). She refuses...so her cousin brother Brij and his friends chase her into the woods to kill her. Maan saves her. She already knew who Maan is at that point....they have many scenes and convos together....which I recommend you watch on youtube. She sends Brij to jail and then ends up in Delhi...working for Maan.
