Is Damodar Irresponsible/Responsible TowardsFamily

Damodar shouldn't have gone back to drinking but sadly its his way of dealing with his pain, like Savita he too has reverted back to his old ways. He's just has heartbroken as Savita is that Archana has left, he feels helpless since Manav is doing as he pleases and will marry a woman who has no respect for anyone.

I agree 100%. Damodar is really an irresponsible father. Due to him, Manav had to quit school and start working, even after that he never tried to mend his ways. He just feels sad and cries and then drinks some more. After the divorce, he knew what Manav was going through, but none of the parents tried to be a shoulder for Manav to cry on. They just punished him by giving him guilt trips (and by the way, they would have given him guilt trips even if Shravani had gone away with the baby- such hypocrites they are). Damodar went a step further by drinking. He didn't stop even when the doctor told he could die if he drunk more.

Now if he dies, Savita will again blame Manav and Archana for his death. The fact is that he is himself responsible for the condition he is in today- if he cannot deal with the pain of life, it is HIS mistake. Life is not a bed of roses, and you cannot live being an escapist all the time. This whole track of showing Damodar sick and Manav Archana guilty seems pathetic to me.

Edit Add: Please do not think that I do not have empathy for him. I have the greatest sympathy for him as he has suffered a lot- one child dead, second child divorced and as good as dead, and third child in an atrocious marriage. Enough to drive anyone to death! But as a 65- something man, I do not expect this type of behavior for him, especially when he can see that due to him, his son is suffering even more. He doesn't even try and make an attempt to stop drinking for his family- he just uses the 'I'm helpless' line. He never tries to be the pillar of support for his family. Whereas in life, this is what we have to be- we may have our moments of extreme downfall, but we've to be strong, if not for ourselves then for our loved ones.

Damodar is wrong he shouldnt be drinking & ruining his own life. But I feel Manav & Archana are also equally responsible for his condition, they both went against everyones wishes only to please shravni.
