Nice topic...I have a lot to write.
I was not very young like some of you when CID started. Sony channel itself had just started. I was more into Zee Tv...and as someone mentioned, even I used to see "WOH". It was something like this 'Seven'. It had Ashutosh Gowarikar in it. And I used to love Ashutosh since the 'Circus' days , so I used to watch it. My mom used to watch '9-Malabar hills' and it had Aditya Srivastav along with Pavan Malhotra and Renuka Shahane, so that was my first glimpse of him.
One day while channel surfing late in the evening, I came across CID. It was one of those early episodes. Daya was already in by then and I saw Ashutosh with him!!! I saw it for Ashutosh(Viren) and simply loved it. It never was an obsession for a few weeks. I used to watch it for ACP, Viren, Michael 😆 and Asha only and not the 'extra' guy - Daya, who seemed to have a 'glum' expression and only doing background work and nothing useful.
However, CID got more and more interesting...and one day came the clincher. "Case of the Missing Bullet". This guy Daya who was standing in the background all these days got a full-fledged episode to himself. That scene where he was accused of murder and Viren asked him to handover the gun and his badge was the ultimate picture. I can NEVER forget that scene. That helpless expression of Daya, looking absolutely downcast as if he was about to cry. For the first time, I felt like walking into the TV and giving him a big hug. The episode ended mid-way as it was a 1/2 hour show. I coudn't stand the suspense for the whole week - whether Daya's name would be cleared or not. And I saw the second part where he was about to commit suicide....and I was screaming out asking him not to shoot himself. The episode ended with Daya crying in ACP's arms.
DAYA HAD ARRIVED and made a permanent place for himself in my heart as one of my most favourite TV characters.
Since then I have been a die-hard fan of CID.
