In India How many wives are you Allowed?

I need a little culture lesson. Thanks in advance. How many wives can a man legally marry in India? And culturally how many is acceptable? Is this still widely practiced? Thank you.

only one, so in dat respect if Bhavri ask 4 her rights then Mathali will be declaired unleagal wife & she will have to leave every thing related to Anadi (if AM wont consume there marrage) dats why Kalindi wants Bhavri to go in Anadi room

But if they comsume then Matali side will become strong

when bhavri was married to shaurya then why didnt maithili ask for her rights?...she could have got it easily as well..this bhavri wants both butter and jam...well miss bhavri whoever you are...cannot have everything and for this you will have to pay

culturally a man is allowed to have one wife, that's in Hindu religion and i think its the same for Christians (im a Hindu) Muslims i know are allowed four wives is it? correct me if im wrong.

According to what I know, Hindu & Christians are allowed only 1. Muslims are allowed to marry 4 times.. but I am not sure they are allowed 4 wives at the same time, thats like polygamy and I think that is not allowed. You can read up, everything is available on the web.

Bhavri was not aware about the fact that Shaurya was Maithali's husband! therefore you cannot blame her by saying.. she wanted both butter and jam! she loves Shaurya ONLY.. but she cannot give Maithali her place in her inlaw household the real one, because.. she also knows Shaurya wld not be able to accept Maithali as he is madly in love with Bhavri! she had to act all mean, so that it wld be easy for Maithali to forget about everything and MOVE ON!

Muslim men can have up to 4 wives

If a man has more than one wife, he has to provide separate living accommodation for each of his wives.

If a man cannot maintain justice in the treatment of his wives, the Quran stipulates that he is to have no more than one wife. (meaning that he has to treat them all equally)
