ash is an orphan...and gunjan is a councellor and care-taker of kids in the orphanage.most probably when gunjan wud have come to this orphanage...she wud have met ash who was young that is a school going girl at that tym...and may be she too went thru some huge pain in her lyf and gunjan helped her out come out of that trauma.

I think As nupur has gone.. now Gunjan need sistery support , that is why they might show Gunjan and ashwini sisterly bond
